well went to the track today. got the engine done broken in but still had it running very rich. some things that happened

1)rear center drive shaft (universal) bent from chassis flex.
2)one of the pins on the differential side of the front dogbones worked its way almost out, so i ca glued it and it held fine.
3) as i suspected the rear was rather loose under power
4) after flipping and sitting for more than 15 seconds the car will go about 30 feet then die. hopefully extending the fuel line will help but its already fairly long.

so not a bad first day, i took some rather nasty spills and nothing broke to my surprise so the buggy held up strong. Just need to see if i can get the back end to stick. and it will be solid.

lowey are you running the factory clutch? im thinking of getting the werks clutch but still on the fence about it. I should have my engine monday and if i have time i will try to break it in and possibly take my car to the track Tuesday if i have time.

I'm using the werks clutch myself and swear by it!

If you decide to go with this clutch, a few set-up tips... Start with 2 carbon shoes and 2 rulon shoes. Use the soft spring and wind the nut all the way in, then back it out 1 - 1-1/4 turns

This will give you good hook-up and long life!

thanks lowey!
also has anybody tried fitting a body other than the team magic one on the car? the team magic bodies are expensive!

lowey79 04-21-2008 01:15 AM

That's strange..... i've found that they are comparable to proline in price here in Australia

smracer31 04-21-2008 01:37 AM

the proline body is about 20 bux here, the team magic is about 35, i think its because the team magic parts are hard to come by. I cant find a rear brace either so i think i will just order some stuff from rcshopping

lowey79 04-21-2008 03:09 AM

WOW!!!! you guys have got it lucky.... they're both around the $55 mark here!

Although, i did get lucky with the last body i bought for my M1... When i opened the package i found 2 bodies and 2 sets of stickers... just lucky, i guess?

Did you get the bodies from Mushroom Lowey? I noticed they send/sell some bodies in pairs and it isn't all that noticable on thire site that you've bought 2 bodies when you buy from them.

Did anyone try fitting another make of body?

I was searching for this same question and didnt come up with anything. It would be nice to find a body that will fit that isnt the team magic body, it looks like the rc8 body might fit, the cars have the same wheelbase.

I have another question to, i cant seem to figure out why my buggy dies every time its upside down. It cuts out about 15-20 seconds after i get it flipped back over. The only thing im thinking to fix this is a fuel boost chamber. Any other ideas?

Hi All,

I had my first outing with my M1B TURBO. Never actually raced in off-Road before  I have to say....... hats off to those who do it!! It takes some skill.
Anyway. I didn't do so bad, alot better then I thought I might considering I'd never made a car fly before.....lol

I was acually on A Main pace in the second qual' but a couple of mystakes put me back to B .. :(

But still had alot of fun. Just need to learn how to jump better now...lol

Car was very durable. I can say that in all honesty because no-one crashed as hard or as many times as I did....lol

I did manage to rip slightly the rear wing....... But thats all.

People were impressed with the way the car went. I learnt alot too.

Check out the track. Very nice and the people there were so friendly and helpful !!
I arrived as an Off-Road Novice not knowing anyone there, and left knowing alot more then before, a full belly, a set of donated tires and a bunch of new friends.
Couldn't ask for more from a track or the people there.....

A great venue.

M1B/Turbo Parts

I posted a thread in the Wanted section and have seen no replies. I am looking for alot of M1B/Turbo parts for spares. I would actually love to have another Roller. I purchased what TMizzle had listed about a month or so ago and I was quite impressed with the handling and flight charactersitics of the buggy. I would love to hear what rollers or parts some of you may have to offer. I'm sure there are alot of you that are purchasing the new M8 kits, maybe you could sell off your leftovers to me. So far all I have broken is the rear wing, twice. Most likely the rear gearbox will be next. If I cannot find any parts or rollers I will sell everything that I have. PM with any questions---Thanks

did you PM TyrantTrooper? he may still be trying to off load his turbo?

Thanks---that was very helpful. I just emailed him and PM'd him. I will wait for a response. Also saw smracer31 had one on theBay recently;

I missed the opportunity...I also PM'd him. Thanks guys for the fast responses.

With my aggressive driving style I can afford to push some of my other vehicles knowing that I have plenty of Rollers and Backup Buggies. With this though is a different story. I think I could take this M1B to the next level if I had the extras. I am having a f***in blast with this thing. Some of its flight characteristics have me baffled though. When I purchased mine from TMizzle, he had (2) 10g weights on the rear. I stuck with that setup and figured they were there to help. Totally the opposite for me though---I had to move them to the front just to get the front end to nose down. Most of the time I don't break before I jump, this is hard for me as I am used to pushing my buggies hard. This one liked to drive out from under itself on the jumps. I took out a couple wings real fast. My rear gearbox has taken some serious abuse, much more will surely break it. I altered the shock wieghts and played with some lighter and stiffer springs and that helped a little. Still need to break hard before I jump to get the level flights...

i think you sent me a pm, i actually sold my buggy to my bro cause he liked it a lot. I got the spares from wolfhobbies.com and ultralinehobbies.com and you can order direct from rcshopping.com but it is expensive to ship as there based in europe.

if you enjoy it dont be afraid to push it, it is very durable, my brother has taken some really nasty spills with his and still nothing has broken.. somehow, he has a very aggressive driving style as well.
