I've seen guys wrap tinfoil around the head so it stays warm without leaning it out to much. I am going to do this on our new Novarossi's.

Eric -
It should take you a minimum of 3 - 4 tanks (sometimes 6 -7) to get the motor running smooth and stable. This is when you shut it off the first time. After that, run the motor up to temp and make sure it stays stable for a minute or two then turn it off. That is one cycle. Let it completely cool. Run it again another 3 or 4 times and then you should be good to take it to the track for further tuning.
Hope this helps. Novas take a long time to set and loosen up. OS engines take less time. The principles are the same. The metals in the piston and sleeve are different. If they are not the right size (ie: at the engineering temp) the softer material will be worn away.
Have fun,
TEX

make sure that when your breaking your engine in with the heat cycle method, you put the piston at the bottom of the stroke of the cylinder as it cools.. so the piston doesnt get stuck at the top

To those using a lipo receiver pack....

Do you really need a voltage regulator.. or can I get away with not using one for the weekend? The one I got is wack and I don't care for it, I will have to extend the wires and I don't have the time or supplies at hand right now.

Would I be o.k. to run without the regulator for practice this weekend or should I pick up a nimh?

Pick up a NIMH, that sucker can be well over 8 volts on a fresh charge!

So any opinions on this new Losi starter? Anyone seen the team drivers with it yet?

I haven't seen anyone use the new starter box but the idea is brilliant. Too bad it didn't come out at the same time as the buggy.

There's one of each on my race team, so we'll see how they do. I like my stock body, fits well, is light, gets plenty of air over the motor, and looks good. Of the other two, one is very thick, a little heavy(but the marginal increase in weight really shouldn't be much of an effect) and is very strong. The last is right in the middle, but I prefer the style of my stock one better. Pics:

the Jconcepts body is thick (heavy) compared to the kit body. I think I like the lines of the kit body over the Jconcepts, I've got a crowdpleazer being painted as we speak so I can't comment on that one yet.
