Default 80/35 Raceway: Pre-season Dash for Cash!

Thought I would throw out this announcement for our indoor season 'kickoff' race at 80/35 Raceway in Grimes, IA . The track is located just off the interstate on the north side of the Des Moines metro area. The track is directly behind (to the east) of Bertini Marble and Tile. Plenty of restaurants and lodging close by.

Indoor pitting with tables, chairs and power is provided. Clean restroom in the facility. And of course, Blue Groove Hobbies is right there at the track for all your race needs!

We recently COMPLETELY re-vamped the indoor track. All the old dirt was removed and nice clean clay was put in its place . You can see the progress on the track in this thread: http://www.iowarctracks.com/viewtopic.php?f=77&t=7194

Saturday September 15th, 2012. INDOOR PRE-SEASON DASH FOR CASH!

Figured we'd try something new while the track is still fresh to everyone . Here's what I have in mind... 1/10th vehicles only, 6 entries REQUIRED to make a class. Entry fee for your first class is $25 (novice $10). Any additional classes are just $15/entry. We'll run three 6 minute qualifiers and 8 minute AA mains. Yes that's just two A's, not three . Here's the biggie... We'll pay out to ALL drivers who make the A (except novice). Payout schedule is as follows:

1st: $40
2nd: $30
3rd: $25
4th: $15
5th: $10
6th: $10
7th-10th: $5

Expected classes are:
Novice (no payouts)
Stock 2wd buggy
Mod 2wd buggy
Stock 2wd SCT
Mod 2wd SCT
Mod truck
Stock truck???
4wd buggy???
4wd SCT???

Sorry no 1/8th e for this race. Remember, a minimum of 6 entries are required to make a class.

Track will open at 7am for practice, racing will start at 10am. Let's get the word out and kick the indoor season off with a bang!

Couple sneak peaks of the new dirt...

I'm not trying to rain on your parade, but I'm not sure the turnout from Omaha will be very good. The track in Lincoln is having a 2 day race that weekend.

Yes we saw that race when planning this one. Between the Haven shootout, Pro Series up at LRT, the Lincoln race, and a bunch of others it was tough to squeeze something in. Unfortunately that's the date that seemed to work the best, with the fewest conflicts. There's just too much racing going on this time of year! (not a bad thing!)

We just wanted to get a little bigger club race going while the track layout was still fresh for everyone

Fair enough, can't fault you for that. There is three race weekends in a row for us, and some of your guys as well. Hobby Haven, Plex Summer Series, the the MRO Cornhusker Classic and 80/35 Dash for Cash, then the pro series race. That's 5 of what should be great races in 4 weekends in a row.

Sometimes things just intertwine, unfortunately.

Just a couple days away from the Pre-Season Dash for Cash!!!

We've added a couple new features to the track and have done some fine tuning over the last week. The brand new dirt is taking a set nicely and is holding moisture much better than the old rocky black dirt .

I've heard people wondering about what tires will work on this new surface. The short answer is - no one really knows at this time. The new dirt is mostly clay with some sand content. There's been very little traffic on it so far so no one really knows what it's going to do. It does seem like it will develop a groove... Guessing that is what will happen later in the day Saturday.

Directions and other information about 80/35 Raceway can be found in the first post of this thread. If you have any questions about this race, or the facility in general please ask away!
