Anyone have any luck with the Tekin 1350kv truggy motor on 6s? This is what I have in my current build...

I’ve run a 74mm 2000kv motor for a while now. 16 or 17 tooth pinion, depending on the tires. Not enough power for standing back flips, but great on the track.

Hobbywing Xerun XR8 Plus & 4274SD G2 - 2250kV Motor on 15T in mine. 4S is more than enough for me. Barely breaks a sweat.

I run the Tekin 4038 truggy series 1350kV with an SMC True Spec Premium 4500mah 6s pack, a Tekno 17T pinion, the Tekno steel spur gear (the stock plastic one didn't last a day on this combo), and Pro-Line Trencher 40 series tires with 1/2in extenders on all four corners.

I get about a half hour of mixed speed bashing in my backyard. It easily does standing backflips and will do doubles off a 3ft kicker ramp. At blinding, nearly uncontrollable speed on flat pavement, if you squeeze the trigger the rest of the way too suddenly it will instantly wheelie right over backwards.

It's a monster and I love it.

I ran a 19T pinion for an afternoon and it was just stupid. Way too much for the size of my yard.

Thanks for the info on the pinions. I am starting with a 16 tooth but may work my way up. Any heat issues with your setup? Glad to hear it is a handful, that is what I am hoping for!

I just tried running a 6S setup for the first time. 1550kv motor with a 14 tooth pinion. I’m also using a 48 tooth steel spur instead of the stock 44 tooth.

It got REALLY hot. I mean 200 F hot after 10 minutes. I was running through short grass and that doesn’t help. But I wonder if the pinion was actually too small? There’s no outside friction going on here: bearings are good and drive train turns smoothly when not engaged to the motor.

Thoughts?

So if one was just going to run 4s 2000KV to 2250KV would be optimal.

I'm in Texas and ran this in the worst heat of the summer with no motor fan, never got above 160deg F (within the motor limits). Just for some extra headroom, I eventually put this Yeah Racing Tornado Plus fan on with this mount and it hasn't been above 120deg since.

This worries me since i will be running the 1550kv on 6s when i gets here. Its scheduled to arrive tommorow. I hope heat isnt an issue. I heard a 17t pinion is where i wanna be.

How did you get a 14t to fit, it says the smallest you can run on the Tekno is a 15t if im not mistakin...

14 fits ‘cause I’m running a 48 spur. But I had to raise the center diff about 2mm to do it.

I’m betting I was just under geared. I’m gonna try a 16 pinion next. But I’m afraid to ‘cause it was stupid fast with the 14!

Tekin 1350, 6s SMC, Proline Mashers (which were discontinued recently I just noticed) with a 16 tooth pinion and this thing was a blast! No heat issues whatsoever and I ran it pretty hard. Motor was only warm to the touch. I am pleased.

Cool. I may try that fan/mount this coming summer if heat becomes an issue.

Yeah ill find out if the 1550kv is gonna run hot on 6s when i get my combo. Scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. I bought the RX8 gen3 with the 1550kv motor and when i got it, the motor had something loose in it. So i had to send it all back for an exchange.

Really looking forward to getting it tomorrow and running this MT410 finally. Ill keep you guys updated to whether it overheats or not. I was thinking of getting a 1350kv but went 1550kv...
