found this in the eb48 thread. looks like a few mm left of room between esc and motor.

I would get the Tekno aluminum servo horn & shock caps. I have yet to try the Delrin shock parts.

I'll reword part of my question. Are the MT towers/chassis a downgrade from the EB48.3?

Will a Truggy sized motor fit? The hw 2250 is Truggy sized.

I cant help w/HW, but here is a pic of my Tekno EB48.3, w/Tekin truggy motor & RX8.

I think Tekno fully expects this to be an option for folks who want to do just that...

If you look at the "MT410 Body Reference Chart," Tekno speaks to that directly. They list some bodies denoted with a "T" - "Requires truggy chassis and driveshafts (TKR5601 & TKR5676 or TKR5676A)

They even list the required parts for you, how cool is that?

Yeah I saw that. Interesting pick of bodies, whoever made that did their research. This does however require you to buy a $130 chassis + dogbone on top of the kit (Edit: turns out its a bit less than that for both). Shorter wheelbase is good for monster trucking I suppose.

This is not the Truggy chassis. I believe the eb48/sl chassis.

I believe that's what I implied in my comment. For some reason this truck looks odd to me with the short EB48 wheelbase and wide stance with those MT tires. If you put some thick fluid in the center diff, I'm sure this thing would flip over all the time.

I think that's the whole point behind the short-wheel-based niche.

Personally I believe the more accurate answer is "kind of". It definitely won't fit with a truggy can motor and it takes a shoehorn and maybe even some mudguard trimming with a buggy can motor. I love Teknos but their electronics space is uber tight.

The URL I posted above shows both the xr8 and Truggy motor fitting into an EB48. Also Tekno confirmed it will fit as well.
