Hello,

We were running the proline shockwave pre-mounts from proline. As far as electronics we were using the Tekin RX8 Gen2 with the 2250KV motor and a 15 tooth pinion. The 2200KV with the castle Mamba Monster or Mamba X is also a great choice and should also be ran on a 15-16 tooth pinion. Servo is up to you but I would want something with above 300oz @ 7.4v with a speed of under .15 @ 7.4v. We used a 4s lipo battery to power our kits in the video as well.

Hope this helps!

I think the proline shockwaves are these:

Proline Shockwave 3.8" Mounted (#1193-13) with dimensions of

6" (152mm) tall x 3.35" (85mm) wide

The description says they are lighter weight. I couldn't find if they were a medium compound. I'm assuming they are.

This should be a link to them if anyone wants to check them out.

https://www.prolineracing.com/tires/...tires-mounted/
i'm surprised they used such small tires, only 6.00in/152mm diameter, and the shockwaves have shallow tread. but i'm sure that's why they are considered lighter weight - they are small for 3.8 MT tires.

I say utilize the travel we have and mount up some MAN TIRES. mx38's or trenchers, mashers, etc!

Hi guys, it's a roller now! It is really nice building a kit like this up from scratch. My last couple of cars were all RTRs and the design, materials and feel of this Tekno kit really do make it stand out. The A-arms look and feel very beefy and the slim machined chassis is just incredibly sexy! . As many others have already built and shared most details, I'll only add the stuff I thought was noteworthy or where I was stubborn enough not to follow the directions.
  • First up: diffs. In general, I don't like wasting power through my center diffs, so I went with 1M cSt instead of the Tekno recommended 100k. I have good experiences with the Losi HD diff cups, they're bigger than the Tekno one (more fluid, so heats up a bit less quickly) and very beefy with metal inserts. 0verkill already confirmed the Losi diff worked in his Godzilla ET48 builds, so I'll keep a steel spur Losi diff spare for when my plastic Tekno spur strips. 0verkill mentioned the 45T Losi spur would not fit, but I tried and with me it does clear chassis and top plate (maybe MT410 chassis has deeper cut-outs?); anyway, it's good news for higher kv, 6S, big tire set-ups, as that would mean we can reduce gearing slightly more to 13/45.
  • Then A-arms: I'm not an RC car designer or racer, so maybe I'm overlooking something, but I don't see the need for 1.5 mm of slop between A-arms and hinge pin braces - it will just cause the arms to bang/fret back and forth under acceleration/braking. I added some soft PVC tube spacer to get rid of it.
  • Wing/wheeliebar attempt: meh, TBC...
  • Body: although the Proline 3238-60 VW Bug body is listed as compatible without remarks on the Tekno site: (http://www.teknorc.com/shop/tkr5603-...atible-bodies), it doesn't seem to work, unless I'm missing something... It seems the SCT body mounts used on the MT410 are just spaced too wide apart. If you pay attention to it, you'll notice in a lot of pics guys are posting of their MT410s, the mounts are on the far edge of the bodies... These post seem to be intended for wide SCT bodies and not optimal for slimmer bodies. I have to see how I hobby this one up... I pretty much know nothing about bodies/body mounting, so any suggestions/help on this topic greatly is appreciated.

Pic overload below .

Next to the street beast-mode 8ight-T.

Comparision of Losi HD diff cup (left) vs Tekno (right).

Part numbers. Still had internals laying around, so you need to google those yourself .

1M cSt Hobby Harder Center diffs .

Clearance of 45T steel spur.

A-arm slack space.

A-arm flex PVC tube spacers.

Wing mount / wheeliebar mock-up... bit of meeeeh, needs some more thinking.

Crappy fit with Proline 3238-60, VW Bug body; SCT body posts on MT410 just seem to wide apart...

Doc,
Nice work and thanks for the tips. Even my truck body I think the body posts are too far out. For me, I would run the bug body even as good as it looks. I don't see it lasting with the posts that far out on key strength areas.

Looks like you are using Thunder Tiger MT4 G3 Tires. Just wondering if you need extenders to use those?

Do they rub the sides or anything?

Unfortunately No, they are the Team Associated Rival's. Same thing though.

No extenders yet, at full lock they have a hair over and inch of clearance to the body. I ran them on my Losi 8 and they ballon pretty bad like most do but I have extenders in the parts bin Incase they reach out and grab the body.

Weather is still not cooperating so haven't maiden yet.

These are cheap and might be interesting to use for a speed run.

I'm not sure how much more use anyone would get out of them.

They are fairly cheap. They might explode on the first run

Hey DR T.

Do you have a link to those tires you are using? They look like big fangs. I found these on nitrorcx

http://www.nitrorcx.com/mad-wc1014.html

They don't have the height and width of the tire on the website.

Would you care to measure them (outside diameter and width) and weigh them if possible?

Crap!

I think the kit doesn't come with Green slime or Pro Tek Premier Blue O Ring Grease.

I don't have those two things.

Do I need to order them? Or will super lube work?

No those are like the proline trenchers with a zero offset.

These are the ones your looking for.

I'm using it on my MT410 and have used them before. Great all around tire.

I used Super Lube grease on my ET48 O-rings w/no issues.

Cool. Can you use Super Lube on the shock shafts too?

I did, but only for the build. I wouldn't leave a lot on them, as it would attract dirt, imo.

Cool, One more dumb question. Does super lube work good on the out drives and in the gear box for the ring gear etc. Can you use it instead of the Team Associates Black Grease?
