Default savage x vs savage xl

Well maybe third time is the charm. I have owned a savage flux and a savage xl and i didnt like either of them. I dont know why but i got them used and didnt like the way they were set up so im going new this time and doing it the way i want. So im looking to take advantage of the $140 off of an $800 order that tower hobbies is advertising. Im looking at the savage x or the xl. What im going to do is get an lrp 30x or 32 from tower in the order then sell the stock motor off of the rig when it arrives. I am leaning a little bit towards the x since its cheaper and looks like it will be easier to do flips, wheelies, ect. It will be a full blown basher, im not easy on stuff lots of BIG jumps. If i go the xl route i will only be able to get the kit and the lrp and that will eat up the $800 as i dont want to spend more than that. If i go the savage x i will be able to upgrade a few things right away. Is the xl more durable? Do the latest models share the same diffs? Do both the lrp motors drop right in? im torn, whats the best way to go?

I'd go for the xl. They come with upgraded shafts. Think the diffs are the same. But the size and the control of the xl is worth it. Specially with a Lrp.32. Xl. You won't regret it.

Man I'm torn, I think I'm leaning towards the x and getting more hop ups then if need be I can convert it later down the road.

Ok order is placed! I ordered the scratch and dent savage x (thanks again ble6prodigy), prime trenchers on desperado's,*lrp.32, venom 1500 hump pack, od plug, another gmc proline body to match the one on my lst xxl 2e, ts-170 servo, and an ofna 7 tank to fix the half tank lean issue. I got all of this for $670, and I should be able to sell the stock motor for $125 or so! I'm really happy with that deal

I built a savage years ago piece by piece, seemed like the X was a much better platform then the larger XL.
I had a friend with an XL and did drive it a few times, i just had more fun with the out of control/ over powered X chassis.

ya i like loads and loads of power, plus the x is lighter so it will be a good bit quicker.

i didn't notice much of a performance difference going from X to XL. If anything the XL felt more stable. now the tires made a big difference for me.

I figured the xl would be more stable, but if for some reason i dont like the x i will convert it to an xl since i already will have a .32 to push it lol.

Got everything on friday, only issue I had was the servo was no good so tower is going to replace it. I decided to use the stock tank as I had no idea that the hyper 7 tank was this small. I did 3 brake in tanks today and am going to finish them tomorrow. I can't wait to bash this thing hard!

k I got her all broke in and took it out to bash. I got about a tank through it at the bash site then the spur stripped. I'm pretty sure I had the mesh set right. I've read this is a pretty common issue with the savage. Any fix? Is flex eating it? I'd rather not get a rr slipper and a hardened clutch bell.
