Default Savage x 4.6 to XL?

I'm wanting to make my savage a little bigger and have been looking at the XL chassis plates. Would swapping those with the x 4.6 be a direct fit and work fine ?

There is a conversion kit from HPI.

Well, it wouldn't be a kit if it didn't come with everything you need.

Kit yes, cheapest no. Just get the longer tvp's and engine plate off eBay along with longer center rear dogbone. It's an easy swap.

okay thanks. Seeing the kits go for about $70 ish on ebay, so that doesn't seem to bad.

there is a lot of aftermarket companies that make the extended tvp's and are a lot stronger than the hpi kit.. Look around there around the same price...all you need is the tvp's, engine plate, and longer rear shaft..

Hi Stone202. Hope you didn't already purchase anything... It sounds like you have a nitro Savage X and would like to make it longer using Savage XL TVP's. Your Savage X 4.6 engine plate does not need to be replaced. You do not need a front dogbone. All you need is XL TVP's and a longer rear dogbone. BUT, you will not get the extra width of the Savage XL. This will only add length. Same screws, receiver box, tranny, and braces are used for both. This is only a $15 upgrade project. $8.44 free shipping on ebay for HPI part number 86054. $6.56 to my Paypal account and I'll ship you a set of used good condition nitro Savage XL TVP's. PM me if you want them.

If you want to widen it I wouldnt go with the stock hpi parts.. You can get wheel spacers with 17mm hexes for less and they are actually come with 17mm wheel nuts..

Thanks dude i'll check out those links. RIght now i'm just looking into adding some length and will most likely eventually add width. The stock 4.6 engine will work fine won't it ? I'm looking at the TCS Xl chassis plates to do it.

That's not a good deal at all bro, I bought the XL convertion NIP from a Ebay seller for $35 bucks (he doesnt have then in stock anymore). It's a lot cheaper if u just piece together the XL tvp's, 3mm engine plate and 142mm rear dogbone ur self from the various chop shops from the bay.

Since ur willing to spend $70 buck on a XL conversion, I highly suggest u look in to these: http://www.stormerhobbies.com/cgi-bi...ns&pn=FLM45100

I too was stuck on XL tvp till I realized that FLM stuff was only a couple bucks more and ten times better in quality and looks. They give u a extended rear dogbone that's also backed with a life time guarantee, tvp's also carry that awesome warrantee so u never have to worry about breaking shittt!

Trust me bro go with those, The part number is "FLM45100". Check them out, google it! It's a little bit cheaper then the stock XL stuff but a way better upgrade in my opinion. I've had five sets of tvp's, upgrading to the XL pieces was a waste of time any money. Don't make the same mistake I did, if u really want to upgrade from X tvp's, go with the FLM Ext LCG tvp's
