LIPO HELP!

I have a brushless Emaxx, it came with 2 Nimh batteries, i bought the Lipos from my local performance RC place and the guy told me he had to "activate the LIPO" ESC. (this a few weeks after running the NiMH batteries that i bought LIPO) he asked if i knew how, or if i would rather them hook it up to computer and do it, I obviously had him do it. I have been running my lipos for about 3 weeks now and all is great, but i was just there today and asked if it is possible to run the NiMH as a backup with the ESC in Lipo mode, the guy said no you shouldnt do it, buy more Lipos ($150-200) since it needs two to run. he said to switch it just press the button on the esc for 10 second and it will beep to switch it over to NiMH and same for switching back to Lipo. upon inspection my CC Mamba doesnt have any button, so i went to my owners manual..and it states: The truck is switched into LIPO mode at factory since its a brushless Emaxx. that is telling me the 1st 2 weeks i drove on the NiMH the truck was already in lipo mode but running on NiMH. If this isnt confusing enough, can anyone tell me with knowledge....Can i run Lipos, and then NimH in LIPO mode? and/or How do i switch my castle creations Mamba into and out of NiMH mode????? and i thought calculus was tough in highschool!

Running Nimh batteries in lipo mode will cause the esc to go into "lipo cutoff" very quickly. Nimh batteries don't maintain their voltage like lipos do.
Yes it will work, but you won't get the most out of the Nimh batteries by running them in lipo mode.

Thanks guys and Fr8cture wow! is spc legit? super cheap. the 45-5000 11.1 Traxxas batteries are about $90 each and my local shop has their own slightley cheaper. i bought the truck about a month ago and have wrapped about $1500 into it already lol (wife not happy) so im trying now to drop another $200 right now on batteries. i checked the SPC site but all batteries look out of stock. have you used them before? good product? if so ill definatly get two more from them when available. thanks!

I bought two turnigy 3s 65c 5000mAh batteries for about $100 from hobby king. Buy the castle link and download the software to your PC and hook up the ESC to your PC to have control of your ESC.
