Default The KC GP

Finally got my hands on another GP...picked this up from Dwblue a while back and finally got a chance to mess with it the past few weekends..It came with the Hesse Axles braces and trans/motor mounts.

It also had the CPE ugraded driveshafts but I had sum Junfac carbon steel ones laying around so I swapped them out...Got to run it for the first time at Monster Jam 2 weekends ago and for our season opening race this weekend.

For our season racing its running as Razin Kane (body by The Monster Factory)...it actualy out performed the TXT Pounder lol...during the 3rd race I lost a screw on the right front steering knuckle and didnt have a replacement...I saw nothing was broken so I kept running it and won the 4th race but lost a close race to the eventual winner...I ended up 3rd..

We had a brand new track layout and new area to race on too..We will change the track around every race...here is a vid of the first race (more coverage coming soon)

While I take a break from the Kong truck I got a few things I needed for this truck...I lost a screw and top hat from the right front knuckle during the races last week so instead of ordering the screw sets I picked up 2 complete sets of axles from a seller on ebay...$25/each, not bad IMO....so now I have spare parts for the axles for the inevitable breakage lol

Also found a few more pics from the MJ show...

I was messing around with the GP and found a way to make the EQR wheels work...so I put them on to see wat it looked like...I think this new setup Im working on might work..The only difference is I will probably use the smaller Rumbles I have to cut down on weight and height. I did a test run with the USA1s last night...in the dark lol, and it ran great..still turns very well too.

Im going to trim off the outter bead to narrow the wheels more and that should help out alot too...

Then both of my Shafty Pounders will have the smaller lighter Rumble setup and I can use the USA1s on the Clod Pounder with TXT wheels..

Here is the EQR wheel for my GP.....It still uses the stock clod hex but it has the Traxxas MJ wheel back so its a tad wider to fit other axles without wideners.

Decided to go with the Rumbles...much lighter and smaller for the GP...Got the bead cut off and new wheels and tires mounted on the GP..Next I have to paint them blue.

I have a Dynamite 3800kv system in it now but I want to go with a Castle MMP and Tekin sensored motor..I was looking at the Tekin Gen2 Redline 10.5 or 9.5...Also considering the Tekin Pro4.

All thats left is to paint the wheels blue and get the chassis powdercoated blue..I will still have sum small things to tweak with (suspension, new 4links, gearing)

Always wanted a solid axle truck, I gotta get one of these. Its such a different world with wheel options and stuff though. How does the axle width compare to clods and axial axles?

The Axial Wraith or AR60s are the best ones out there IMO...The clod axles are good as long as they are braces well...The GP axles need to be braced too but they are really cheap to replace lol..Ill be able to test them out with the new wheels and tires this weekend

Ok so Im thinking about putting Wraith Axles on my GP......but keeping the GP trans. Reason is I like the GP trans, It really hasnt giving me any issues and they are cheap..$18, I can buy 3 for the price of 1 Axial trans, just in case I did break something..I have an Axial trans in 2 other MTs so I want to try something different with this truck...I am running into issues with the GP axles..nothing big yet but small things (Kunckles, rear driveshafts and rear axle ouput shafts)...So I think Im gonna make the switch after Diggers Dungeon, I have spare parts for the axles I can use until then...

The GP ran nice with the new motor...way more top end speed but still just as stable...had a funny landing at sum point (don't know when lol), and tweaked the frame...should be able to bend that back with no problem...gonna tske the GP completely apart and regrease and check all the hardware before Digger Dungeon race...I might change the shock setup but not sure yet...

Got the GP tore down and ready to be cleaned...

Still cant believe I bent the chassis and didn't know it lol....Got it straightened out (that's wat she said )...at least as straight as it will be....

Then after a few mins with a Sharpie Paint Marker I had a black GP chassis! Didn't take long to dry either and looks pretty good, not as good as my powdercoated chassis but darn good...Should give the truck sum "pop"....Tomorrow I will get the chassis back together and decide on a body for World Finals
