I say have both and enjoy it!

I'm with you on this one. Especially the part about having BOTH! I'm brushless only at the moment, mostly due to the lack of noise and the power. But it suits me well as I come home, throw a pack on the charger and by the time I'm done getting cleaned up or whatever it's ready to go. But I still want to build a nitro rig again. It won't get run as much as I like to be considerate and I've never had a complaint because I am. I'm also a builder and modifier, probably the part I like most about the hobby. Nitro or electric I've done plenty of both, stuffing big blocks where they shouldn't be, building electric motor mount and battery trays. There's plenty of fabricating and modifying on both sides of the fence. The learning curve can be steep on both sides, brushless has alot of terminology and nuisances to learn once you get away from RTR's. But with electric once it's setup that's it. I'll admit that's kinda boring, and I kept upping the power and changing setups partly because of it.

As far as brushless taking over, it is and it's for good reason. It appeals to novices more and the technology has made it more viable. One look at Traxxas and all their new electrics and complete lack of a new nitro confirms this. Even HPI's newer nitros are rehashed Hot Bodies vehicles. Losi's 10t and 810 are the newest non race nitros I can think of. I think the lack of new nitros is kinda sad actually. Used to be most new vehicles came in both flavors. Am I the only one who thinks a Nitro Slash/Rally 4x4 with a 2 speed would be a kick ass rig? I actually had an .18 out and sitting on my new Rally last night eying it up. Wouldnt be hard to do either, it'll just have to wait for a cheap roller to come along and time to build it though.

I love nitro. I have no problems tuning and am selling my brushless xs flux. Nitro is more simple to me and I love being able to bash for hours without charging packs.

Yeah but I think a Slash 4x4 based nitro would be alot better than the slayer. I think the slash based would be a bunch lighter, lower cg, lower cost, etc. I agree the Slayer is the reason why we won't see a Nitro Rally or Slash 4x4 though. Still need more new nitro models to go along with the new electrics coming out though, I just didn't pick the best example.

aside from having a similar shell and track width, the slayer is NOTHING like the slash... at all. but i suppose it would get the point across...

HHMMM I got a feeling some one will be doing nitro/elec build , would be cool to see, start out by fireing up the nitro and when you run out of fuel the elec kicks in , the best of both worlds in one truck

They're both short course trucks and would be too similar to make business sense. At least that's what I think he meant and either way that statement is true. As I said, I could've picked a better example of new vehicles not coming in both nitro and electric. I still think it would be really cool and better than the slayer though. At least my version will be, big block, Ofna gtp 2speed, lcg chassis.

I think it's funny though, after doing almost a dozen electric conversions over the past few years, I'm now looking at doing a nitro conversion. It'll still have a Lipo in it though! :ha:
