I'm starting to think the simplicity of the layout, and likely increased long-term durability and reliability as a result.., of the MT4 outweighs the waterproofing and novelty factor of the E-MTA.. I really like the way the E-MTA looks, but I kind of think the MT4 is the more sensible option. For me anyway. Decisions decisions.... :)

Oh yeah, the added weight of the E-MTA - 700 grams or so...

yep. Have fun with your MT4!

Now, I need to find an LST roller on ebay.

I'd sell you one of mine, but shipping would cost more than the truck....

Just browsing youtube. This truck has some seriously positive reviews out there...

Can someody help me out with a charger? What are the key stats I need to look for?.. Also, do most chargers come with a Dean's plug, or conversely, does the MT4 G3 come with Dean's connectors for the charger? Thanks..

The mt4 comes with dean but you need to make a series connector yourself.

Why? What exaxctly is a "series connector" - the cable from the charger to the battery? I assume I can just buy one ready-made? Thanks..

Series connection: 2x 2s packs -> 5,000mah 7.4v + 5,000mah 7.4v = 5,000mah 14.8v

Parallel connection: 2x 2s packs -> 5,000mah 7.4v + 5,000mah 7.4v = 10,000mah 7.4v

Series connector: http://www.overlander.co.uk/media/ca...lead_deans.jpg

I'm not sure whether it comes with one or not. If you have questions, ask: http://www.ultimaterc.com/forums/sho...20#post1582720
or WonterTiger.

Why would I need that though if I'm getting straight-up 4S lipos?

Is there some advantage to running 2x 2S compared to 1x 4S? Thanks yet again...

Oh. I thought you were running 2x 2s.

getting 2 batteries mean that if one battery messes up, then you only have to buy 1 battery to replace the bad one. If however, the 4s pack messes up, you'll have to pay full price for the 4s pack. :cry:

aqeel200 12-15-2012 09:11 AM

true - sometimes you get one single bad cell in a 2S, 3S or 4S pack..and you have to buy a new pack...unless..you can identify which one of the cell in a pack that is faulty and replace that cell alone...this also if you can find identical cell specs as replacement, not to mention the danger that comes with it in taking the lipo apart.....best to use 2S x n or 3S x n as the smallest denominator if possible/can(battery tray).

aqeel200 12-15-2012 09:14 AM

btw - i use parallel board that allows me to charge 6 packs in one go with my charger. there are some safety precautions that need to adhere though to avoid injury/explosion.

Herrsavage 12-15-2012 09:47 AM

Do you lose any power at all by running two packs, through the cables?

Was just at the LHS checking out chargers and batteries, and holy c.rap these lipo batteries are huge!.. A 6S was like a huge brick..

Charger-wise, the guy kind of convinced me that 10a is not necessary, and that 5a is enough.. And that when charging, take the last two digits off the mah number for the charging setting.. I.e., charge at 3.7a for a 3700 lipo.. Rough guideline he said..

I really am a total electric newb...

Herrsavage 12-15-2012 09:52 AM

BTW, answer me this: guys on the reviews on youtube are saying out of the box the truck should only manage 35-40mph. I'm getting this thing to see the other side of 50... I can do 40 with my nitros.. Why is it that the E-MTA is advertised as being able to hit 60mph out of the box, if the MTA can supposedly barely do 40mph? Does the E-MTA have a 2-speed or something? I assume motor, etc.. is the same... ???

Check this out.. "Stock gearing".... :weird:
