WTF!

Guys, really struggling here to decide on my first 8th scale brushless..

It would be mostly for bashing, but I would like to be able to run on a track now and then. I had been thinking about the RC8.2e RTR or SC8.2e, but there seem to be some doubts about the electronics(something about which I have no clue..)

But I've just come across some pretty good deals on the TT trucks - the MT4 G3, ST-4, and E-MTA.

Basically, these are my options, with prices:

1.) AE SC8.2E, €505 shipped.
2.) AE RC8.2E RTR, €495 shipped.
3.) TT MT4 G3 €420 shipped.
4.) TT E-MTA €420 shipped.
5.) TT ST-4 €355 shipped.
6.) AE SC10 RS RTR, €240 shipped, plus €50-60 in RPM arms and bumper. Nice that it's cheaper, but it's still another RC that doesn't share parts with my existing cars.

The TT ST-4 would make sense in that it would be bashable but also decent on a track, if not as good as the AE RC8.2e. It's just so freakin' ugly.. I guess a minus point with the ST-4 is that it too can only run 4S.

Anyway, what do you guys think would be the best investment? I want lots of high-speed passes, running on grass, parking lots, and tracks for breaks between nitro runs, as well as the local park among people out for their Sunday walk..

I'd be keen for all input. Most specifically:

1.) How are the AE Reedy motors in the AE SC8.2e and RC8.2e RTR buggy?
2.) MT4 G3 vs. E-MTA
3.) ST-4 just as good for bashing as the others, but also at least minimally track-worthy?

I should also add, the AE cars have the big advantage in my case in that I already run a nitro SC8, RC8.2, and RC8T, and have lots of parts....

NOOO!!! Another nitro guy going electric! What about your sig man! I was a hardcore, nitro only guy like you, then I took a savage flux to the knee. Now I only own 8th scale electrics with atleast 4S and crawlers. Still love nitro. Just less places to run them. Nitro tracks being turned into condominiums as civilization spreads. There used to be a nitro touring track about 10 km away from me. But now, the closest one is 100km. The closes nitro dirt track (thank god) hasn't closed yet... only 30km from me!


Anyways. Go MT4 G3 if you want monster truck and truggy feel. It is close to indestructible. I would sum it up to MT4 vs E-MTA. Both trucks are just bada$$. MT4 is flat pan chassis kinda like a truggy. Would be good for tracks. The E-MTA has a transverse setup like the MTA4 (MGT). It is high COG specifically for bashing. The E-MTA is fastest out of the choices you picked.


If I were in your position, the E-MTA would be mine. Kinda revive the monster trucks racing days eh?

The E-MTA weighs 4800g, the MT4 G3 4180- that's a big difference!!..

Truggy tires on an MTA for the track?...

Why would the E-MTA be fastest? 2-speed?

I am most definitely NOT "going electric".. I have six full-on 8th scale nitro RC's, all ready to go.

I just want something for winter, for the local park just up from my flat, and for messing around between runs with my "real" RC's at the track..

My two previous attempts at electric(albeit neither brushless) turned me off big-time, and this might too. But winter is doing my head in, and I have a huge park right here, where I couldn't run nitros because of all the people...

Honestly, I only want an electric because I am so addicted to nitro. It's a lame ersatz, but jeeze I need something. I fxxxing hate winter....

Well, if I got an E-MTA, I would keep it as is and change the body. Going for that T-maxx era feel.. Thats just me dreaming though.

If you look for performance on and off track, then MT4. Can be made into a truggy by adding wings, truggy body, sway bars and wheels. Then you can turn it back into a monster by adding LARGE wheels. (HPI 7" goliath or proline bigjoes). I promise your first electric experience will be better than mine. (My first experience was with brushed motors. Changed a motor every day it seems and that is why I am a nitro guy).

One thing I like about the MT4 G3 and the E-MTA are the wheels and tires anyway, which would go great on my LST2 as well..

So ST-1 pro wing kit, truggy tires, sway bars, and off to the tack then? You might be swaying me..

So the ST-4 gets no respect??.. The body is utterly hideous, but it IS more of a truggy than the others...

The MT4 is nowhere near snow/waterproof. The E-MTA has better protection than the MT4. It really all up to you. If you want pre-waterproofed, then RC8.2e and sc8.2e it is. If you want monster truck, then mt4 and E-mta.

ST-4? Well, you will be happier with the MT4 because it is also a monster truck and it can accept 6s.. Plus the wheels of the MT4 are beast.

Well, dunno'..., but right now I like the look of the E-MTA best..- it looks sleek, and I like that it's a bit more water-proofed than the MT-4 I guess. I mean, this is mostly for running in winter, and it is dumping snow right now.. Just had a mail from a friendly online shop here offering me the following:

1.) E-MTA, not yet in stock, for €420

That battery is considerably more expensive elsewhere.. That threesome above could be a good starter set to test out brushless, no? MT4 G3 would be the same deal, and he has those in stock..

Batteries I have no idea about.. Important for for starters though is that I don't have to solder. So I guess that means they have to come with a Dean's plug?...

You'll want more than 35c. My lipos at 40c puffed up in my savage flux. C is kinda like nitro percentage... More C gives more punch and power. The ESC might draw more than the battery can give causing it to swell/puff. Look at Turnigy or Gens ACE batteries.

But I seriously recommend you go ask about batteries and chargers in other subforums. I don't know much about batteries.

Important for me too is... no soldering.. But okay, €75 for a 5000 GA I guess....

Neat looking truck, different looking, but still relatively the same. Nobodies bothering to reinvent the wheel here.
