Default Revo Reverse Servo Problem

Hello all, I've got a good one...
I purchased a used revo some time back and since have replaced most worn out parts including the shifting servo for reverse. That lasted no more than half a dozen or so shifts before it quit working again. I did without reverse for a couple months and just recently decided to replace it again.
To be sure the servo was at full travel one way or the other, I hooked up the servo and flipped on the transmitter and then the receiver and flipped the shift switch. I did not have any linkage hooked up...just holding the servo in my hand. The servo did not rotate either direction but I could feel the servo motor vibrating or trying to work. when flipping the switch in one direction the vibration would stop. flipping the switch in the other direction would result in a vibration but no movement. Then after a few seconds I felt the servo getting very hot. I unplugged the servo before burning it up and I feel thats what happened to the last one also.
So does anyone know what the problem is or has anyone ever run across this before?
Thanks

The only way to find out if the servo (or possibly the RX/TQ) is bad is to try it on a different or multiple RX's. If it works, you have a bad RX, TQ switch or both. If it does the same it's the servo.

TBH, you should just install a FOC and be done with the reverse crap.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I can check the servo on my sons revo.
Just haven't wanted to mess with his if I didn't have to.
Btw, what exactly does the foc do for ya. I'm basically forward only now...lol

Forward only would get rid of lots of parts and lots of possible future problems that always seem to happen. You get rid of some gears, servo, OPTI drive, wires ETC..

FOC helps reduce some rotating mass for quicker spool up/ more responsive acceleration. Also for some reason I could only use my traxxas TX/RX with the opti drive installed. I could either turn the wheels, or turn the throttle servo but not both together. Once I took the opti drive out my New TX/RX works perfect. Also reduces a little weight. Although you do have to be careful once that opti drive is gone you do lose your fail safe, so if you lose reception at full throttle it could get real ugly. Lots of people use the ofna fail safe, also Venom makes a temp guage/fail safe but I have heard mixed reviews on it. Im in the process of installing a center diff, so I think I have to do the FOC to have it installed. Also I want to get the rear brake kit. But since I took the opti drive out this week I also have plenty of room to install my new Tekno receiver box/fuel tank conversion. Hoping to get my my new Picco .26 in this week also

Once again, Thanks for the info about the foc but I'm not a racer and I kinda like the convenience of having reverse. I'm just not sure why the servo is heating up. I haven't had a chance to try it on a 2nd revo. Mothers day weekend and stuff...
Have a nice week
