Default Sealing Engine

I am wondering is it worth sealing the engine? I have ran about a gallon threw my engine and yet to seal it.. I am thinking about doing it but i am wondering is it worth it? I do sometimes have trouble setting the idle not if sealing it would help any.. But i am wondering should i do it?

I sealed up a few engines just to do it. I wasn't having any problems but it's one less thing to have to worry about. Hardest part was waiting for the sealant to fully cure before running again. Took me about an hour to break down, seal and rebuild. Less time for the next one. I say do it if you are bored and need something to do, can't hurt. I used Racers Edge engine sealant, it didn't take a whole lot.

I was trying to figure out what kind of sealant to get. I had went to Walmart and i had seen that all there permatex RTV sealant were not gas proof so i did not get it. Because i figure if its not gas proof its basically a waste of time..

So whats a good sealant to get? I will go to Auto Zone tomorrow for a better selection

NOTHING Parmatex makes is "Nitro" Proof. There are silicones and sealants that are meant for nitro However. Racer's edge carb sealant is the most readily available product. I prefer Three bond 1211 but its pricy and can be hard to find depending where your at.

I work a a Honda dealer so I use hondabond4 which is for crankcases on bikes and atv's. Its easy to use and clean up when you pull an engine back apart.

I am most likely just going to get some stuff from Autozone.. I will probably wait and do it because my engine is running good now.

No need to fix it if its not broken

I'm currently sealing my 8.0 in the MGT due to an airleak, if you're comfortable with doing it you may as well and avoid headaches later.
Here's how I found the current leak -

ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

Great how-to on sealing.

I use Permatex black RTV since I get it free from work, never had a problem.
