Default Too much compression??

I installed a new engine in my savage (hot bodies .26) and I've broken it in. The engine has so much compression that it's very hard to start and I keep breaking the pull start rope..? What should I do?

Preheat the block to loosen pinch before you try starting it.

If not- aircraft 1/16in braided steel cable

You can also unscrew the glow plug ... about a quarter turn, start the engine, then tighten the plug.

Make sure there is some ARO in the cylinder to start with, then use a heat gun to preheat the block. If its still hard to pull over, loosen the glow plug 1/4r from tight and see if thats enough. As soon as it fires, tighten the plug.

Soon as it gets a little run time, things will loosen up and it won't be such a PIA to crank. That engine has a rep for this. Enjoy...

I guess roto start's are ok, but i prefer a good working pullstart, and they are much nicer to your one way bearing

That and lean it out a bit from stock settings, sometimes they are too rich from the factory for breakin.
Depends on your weather...

Heat is your friend when starting a new motor.
heat up the block to atleast 70c before starting and you will never have a problem.
Oh and be sure the motor is primed blow through the exaust line untill the fuel is at the carb then give the cord a yank..

Upgrade the oneway and put a good torq starter on it. I use my snapon 3/8 impact with a 12" extension on my Warhead Evo Super Tigre 4.4 Fires everytime in under 20seconds

Now if the parts would come in for the restore to be complete.

Make sure your engine isn't stopped at TDC, this will snap your cord if you yank to hard. Rotate the flywheel with your hand past the compression stroke. Or do everything stated above.

If it's that tough to pull then you must be over-priming it.
