Hello, I just had the week off and finally finished Rev2 of my savage XL.
Check it out. Currently running on 5s with BP diffs, composite housings, Hpi aluminum hub kit, FLM tranny forward chassis, Tekin RX8 on 1350Kv T8 truggy motor ect....

Here are some initial testing vid's, nothing special, I will be doing monster air this summer!

Thanks! The truck started as a Savage XL for 2 summers and then I bought all the flux parts and put them on the xl chassis with a kershaw direct drive 1.0. Then I bought the FLM chassis from RC brothers and put it all in a box for about a year lol! I have 10 other cars so this one got back burnered. But now that it's done I couldn't be happier! It's not as fast as it was with the hpi 2200kv tork motor but now it runs cool, after 10 min of hard railing the esc and motor are under 90deg. I smoked a MMM on 6s with the big tires so I decided to tame it down, 50+mph was just to much. The wheelies at 30mph were really hard on the bodies! I did everything as clean as possible on this.

That is a very nice build, I love the look of those Cen wheels. It looks pretty low, are you using the suspension conversion from HPI?

Yes! Kinda spendy but it adds some caster to the front and makes it drive better. I'm going to put it to the test soon. The flux 3sx2 batteries I have look unsafe even Velcro'd
together. So for now I'm only running a Hyperion 5s. I'd hate for a battery to slide into the slipper bolt! So 5s for now. Lots of fun!

Also I don't have the spacers in the springs in the photos but when you put all 8 spacers in for bashing it raises it up higher. I'm looking to put the flux hp aluminum big bores on it. But I've been more than happy with the 8 shock Xl setup! With stock xl and terrapin tires I could drop the truck from above my head and it wouldn't bottom! Lol! I used to walk up to my buddys with the truck really high in the air and the drop it right in front of them and they would be like WTF? Lol! Fell in love with the savage and our relationship evolved lol! Just playen!

First off awesome truck, I'm considering building one of my own from the ground up with the FLM Tranny Forward Kit. But I wanted to know what the battery box size was, or what the biggest battey you could fit in there is?
Thanks, It would help out a lot, Ive searched all over but couldnt find a straight answer. I have some batteries from my E-maxx that I was gonna use, but sounds like you didnt like the idea of 2 batteries stacked in there.

The largest battery is 165L x 44.4w and as tall as you want to go around 95.mm tall is the bigges 6s I've had in there with no chassis spacers used. You can go wider depending on the pinion size you end up with. With 5s 4200 45c I'm running 20t and 25t on the tekin 1350kv truggy motor, with this motor esc and motor and 20t the temps are at 100esc/motor all day long. With 25t the motor hits 145, esc110. 70deg weather. I found that with the 2200kv hpi motor and the bigger cen tires/wheels the temps were to high. Temps were ok with the stock terrapins or smaller on 6s 35c 5000. But I really like the cen wheels and tires, they make it a beast! I'll put up my test run videos here in a bit!
