BTW: Is the Nova "8 port" a typo? THey make 3,5, and 7 port .28 engines last I knew, like the Plus 28-7T...........

Yea. I get what your saying about the picco.
I've been watching YouTube vids on the novi .28 and the picco Jr.28 with the black heat head! I've seen the vid with the savage xl with a novi .28 and that truck was scary fast and sounded even faster. But that vid was 4 years old! Would that be the older novi? I've also seen one with an losi xxl with a picco Jr.28 it didn't look as powerfull as the novi? So I'm kinda torn between the two.

Stock vs stock they are nearly identical....Judging engines based of youtube videos is a very inaccurate way to compare engines... First you don't know the condition of each truck, the setup on each truck, the tuning skill of the operator, the environmental conditions, elevation, quality of fuel etc. etc...a million possible factors can affect the performance of an engine...So unless you can equalize all of these factors any comparisons are useless...Just by the nature of your posts I would say your best served to buy a Novarossi...We all have our brand preferences, and it truly sounds like you are heavily favored towards the Nova already.... If i were you I would buy a Nova 28 and be done with it ! its an awesome engine, makes tons of power, has excellent build quality....Whats going to matter more is learning how to tune the engine to its full potential, not what brand of engine its running.....A properly tuned Nova 28 will blow the doors off a improperly tuned Picco 28, and visa versa..a properly tuned Picco will blow the doors off a improperly tuned Nova........So in the end its the user behind the truck that is going to matter the most ! pick the brand that makes you happy and learn to maximize its potential !
Thanks a lot on the post. That's has to be one of the best and most since comment ever. I really do like the novi. Not that many people running novi and to many running picco. I don't want to be like everyone else when it comes to my motor.
I do know there are a lot of people who run novi but it just seems like there are more who are running picco: weird: My biggest question about the novi is the way the carb is. It looks backwards and don't look like it will fit into my losi xxl. Because the carb slider on my 454 is the otherway than on the novi! Can I fix the way the carb is? What would I have to do to my xxl to fit a novi.
Thanks for all the comments and help.

A lot of good points made. If you aren't sure how to tune an engine make sure you talk with your local hobby shop.
Being in this hobby for 20+ years I will tell you that you'll get longer life out the the novi compared to the picco (properly maintained and tuned). The saying is true "you get what you pay for". I haven't seen a $150 engine last as long as a $350 engine. You can put 5+ gallons in a novi while most less expensive motors need a rebuild at 2 to 3 gallons.
