LST2 as first nitro.

Im interested in getting an LST2 and already have a mammoth (only driven it once) that was givin to me. I know from reading up that the LST2 is far better than the Mammoth, but the mammoth is sure easy to work on but hard to find parts...this is why i wanna switch to something newer with parts availability.

So I guess my question is...Is an LST2 easy to work on for a rookee?

It will be just for bashing around and for the local track just to mess around.

Or should I get a Savage? I did hear they are even harder to work on than an LST2

both the lst and savage were not hard to work on. i say go for it. i prefer the lst myself.

Hey.

Get the lst2. I have a losi xxl. The bigger brother to the lst2. I can tell you this the lst line has a lot of upgrades. So if you don't like stock or just want to make it your own the upgrades are there. The lst2 is way easier to work on than the savy the parts are not on top of eachother and you get a better remote control and receiver if that matter any.

As far as what truck is tougher I truly don't know because I don't own a savy just the losi xxl. I can tell you this my truck is pretty tough and I'm not easy on it. It's landed on its nose 10 feet up in the air and was just fine. It's flipped in to mail boxes and trash can and nothing happened to it. I can tell you this tho stay away from trees at 30 plus its not good. As far as what truck is tougher from what I heard from everyone else there pretty much both the same truck. I can say this if you want a truck that can handle without flipping then go with the lst2. If you do some racing go with the lst2 same for working on them the lst line are good trucks I wouldn't trade my xxl for any monster truck plane and simple. Hope this helps sorry for the long response. Good luck and I'm sure what ever truck you choose you'll be happy with ;)

I have both the Savage and the LST2 and they are both fun trucks. I think that the savage is tougher, but the LST2 is more stable, especially when you put an upgraded motor in like the LRP.28/30. Savage parts are also easier to find in my opinion.
Hope this helps.

The LST2 was a good track back in 2006. i think the new version has a spektrum radio. however u might find a truggy an easier fit for you than a monster truck. granted it depends on what u prefer to do. u will spend much less time workin on ur truck and more time runnin it. of course if u like to take it to a track, most all nitro tracks will have somethin for you. just .02 (i raced LST2s back in 2006 which was the last real good yr for MTs as the revo had come out just about 1yr before).

If this is your first nitro RC of any kind I would suggest you at least check out Traxxas. It doesn't get any easier than that for a first timer!

No matter what brand you buy, make sure you can get parts locally. You are new so you will break parts. You will want to get those parts fast so you can get running again the same day so make sure your LHS has that brand stocked.

I'm selling a lst2 brushless version that will blow your mind. Its a great price for 450.00 you won't find a better price than this.

I simply love my XXL. It's awesome, and very versatile. There are many upgrades available, so you can do what you want with the truck.

One weak point is the 2-speed tranny. OWB issues are a real PITA with this truck, so keep a spare on hand. I've got about 2 gallons on my XXL now, and while I simply love it, it's not a "plug and play" rig. It requires a fair amount of maintenance to keep it operating smoothly. That said, every hour wrenching on it is worth it! :)

I would recommend anything BUT traxsucks, especially if your new to nitro. Their engines break all the time and it would rub you the wrong way on how a real nitro engine should work.

Stay away from traxsucks and don't listen to the TRX fan boys.

I had the mammoth og with an lrp30 no problems it ran good being 11lbs even. very easy chassis layout to work on parts are easy to find well in my area. I upgraded to a traxxas revo 3.3 using the same lrp 30 and I can truly see how powerful that motor is now. The revo is all stock even plastic gears all I have is the lrp 30 and sway bars on it. I've gone through about a half gallon through it and haven't broken anything. All my trucks were only run at the track. I know the lst2 is heavier I believe but I have only seen one at the local tracks I go to. Either way it's a fun sport to get into.

Don't listen to this idiot. He doesn't even know what leverage is! Just because he can't tune a 3.3 well enough to make it not blow up doesn't mean most everybody else can't.

i say go for the tmaxx 3.3 or the revo 3.3 both are really stout trucks and really easy to work on

Whoa, take it easy there sharpie.. No one was talking to you or quoted you. You must have some kind of guilty TRX fan boy conscious or something. I must have hit your fan boy button.

Ya know, I wouldn't expect anything different from someone that has jato in there user name :lol: The trasucks forums are just a click away.

No one said blow up either, I said break:lol: Fan boys know their product well:nod::lol:

Do I like Traxxas? Yes! Am I a fanboy? No! I have RC vehicles from Duratrax, E-flite, Losi, Tamiya, and Traxxas. How many different brands do you own? You just constantly bash Traxxas and it's old. If everything you said about Traxxas was true they wouldn't be in business. If you don't like them it's fine, but just grow up and let it go.

Saying an engine "blew up" is a figure of speech. It doesn't mean the engine exploded. It just means the engine had a major failure and will no longer work. For example, when you snap a connnecting rod you can say the motor blew up. This is pretty much common knowledge so I don't know how that makes me a fanboy. Please explain that one to me!

Lol. You guys. It's always a brand war between you kids. Traxxas makes great vehicles. Revo and t-maxx are top notch. Lst2 is a great vehicle. Im building up one now. Very easy to work on. Great layout. You will not be dissapointed. I had a hooked up revo. Balls out bad asss with a pico .26. But a pain to work on. I will say hpi is on the lower end of the spectrum though.

Complain all you want traxxas sucks losi sucks hpi sucks whatever.
