E-maxx Wheels

How do I know what wheels will fit on my E-maxx? For instance I think these wheels look sweet:

If you have a 17mm hex adapter on your maxx than they will fit. But i wouldn't recommend the axial beadlocks. The tire pulls off the bead very easily. If you really like the beadlock wheels then try some maximizer beadlocks.

I have a stock E-maxx. Would I need to buy a 17mm hex adapter then?

Stock one comes with 14mm I think. That Axial rims are for 40 series tires.

This is true. And if you get these wheels you will need to gear your truck down a few teeth, and get a stronger steering servo. In addition to that your truck will look odd with such huge wheels on it. Check out the maximizer beadlocks, they come in tons of sizes, colors, and styles.

I'd just assume stay with the same size tires and wheels. Just not completely sure what size those are.

Are these the stock tire?
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXJG97&P=7

or is it these?
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXMJF0&P=7

I like these wheels also are they the stock size?

There are so many different sizes that say for E-maxx it's confusing. The same wheels above but 17mm say for E-maxx.

What e-maxx do you have? The black chassis e-maxx (older) or the gray chassis e-maxx (newer).

Your 1st link is the stock tire, Trx P/n 4970, its 3.2" ID, 5.75" OD, and 3.5" wide. This came on the older 3906 model with the black chassis.

The 2nd link is the stock tire on the new Emaxx 3905 with the gray chassis - its a bigger tire - 3.8" ID, 6" OD and 3.5" Wide. It won't properly fit the 3906 wheels.

Your 3rd link - no it won't fit either wheel, its made for much narrower wheels.

Go to TRX, dn load the parts listing for what you have and look on Tower - it will give you specs for he stock tire. Then find another tire with those specs and you're good.

I'm not actually looking to move away from the stock tire, just find different wheels that will work with the stock tires.

I thought this would be an easy question. So why do the wheels say they are for E-maxx when they won't fit? Seems like everything says for E-maxx, but you have to be real careful with what you buy.

Go to prolineracing.com or towerhobbies.com And look for 14mm wheels. Just do that. Dont go buy an adapter or anything just get the right size wheels. Im not sure why these other guys were telling you to get a 17mm adapter. Your fine with the stock 14mm and thats the size rims you should get

So I think the stock wheels and tires are part 5173 which tower gives the size as:
Wheel:
Diameter: 3.8" (96.5mm)
Width: 2.7" (70mm)
Hub Size: 14mm

Tire:
Outer Diameter: 5.9" (149mm)
Width: 3.25" (82mm)

I can find plenty of wheels that are 14mm, but most of them say the width is only 2.2". Haven't found a single one at tower or ebay that comes very close to that size for the wheels.
