I would also do the gear swap in the tranny.

Losi hi-speed pinions are only plus 1. 8man makes more selections. I'll try and find his site for you.

EDIT: Hmmm...his site is no longer working. I just sold some brand new plus 3's to "turbo head" you can see if he wants to sell them.

Engine

I've heard a lot of good things about LRP but I've heard the same guys say the front bearing likes to go out after 1 or 2 gallons. I didn't know they were all made by the same company, I've had a XTM 247 for years and it's a great engine. I've had a RB for about 4 yrs and it's still a powerhouse. That's why I'm leaning towards the TM928, 728, or ST28. I may still go with a less expensive engine like the LRP though. Do you think it's more powerful than the Machs?

No offense to RCTech...but Brett you need to head over the lstforums.com. Way more info on LST's. Just use the search button!

ya lstforums is a great site and id get a TD hub while yr there:nod: piss on them shift points

Pinions

I post there to. I've got the stock pinion/spur set coming since mine are stripped and also the 2nd and 3rd sets. I want to use the other 2 and see which I like best of the 3. I hate to do the FOC. I'll look into this other source you're talking about. Thanks for the tip

What's the TD Hub? I havn't played with the shift points yet.

brentmorl 02-23-2009 06:07 PM

it makes it a single speed and the best thing is you loss alota weight/mass and also does away with that dang OWB which i have had alot of problems with from day one

BrettL 02-23-2009 06:15 PM

OWB?

I'm confused again:confused: OWB. This is the bad thing about RTRs, you don't always know what makes them tick. I've never had anything bu single-speed, one level chassis nitros before.

brentmorl 02-23-2009 06:17 PM

owb= one way bearing ...its the bearing on the hub that the spur gears are on

SUNA 02-23-2009 06:19 PM

One Way Bearing. The downfall of most multiple speed trannies.

Forget the one speed hub...great for racing as you're maintaining the speed. Not much launch for dragging. It's basically keeping you in second gear the entire time from start to stop.

Some new guy is making plus tooth sized pinions.

PS If you want to be the fastest...go electric. Nitros take too long to spool up.

BrettL 02-23-2009 06:24 PM

OWB, of course

I should of thought of that. I hate to lose any low end punch though. I guess how much I lose would depend on how I gear it. There has to be an adjustable motor mount I could use to allow more gearing options.

brentmorl 02-23-2009 06:26 PM

suna who make the single24-16Tbell????

brentmorl 02-23-2009 06:27 PM

dremmel...lol

reggie l. 02-23-2009 06:33 PM

teal-mach427 is the best budget motor hands down..

rb928 is a beech to tune..but is great once you get it...when you get it...

lrp is great and a power house...but most of the have bad bearings..and they drink alot

the picco is good..but it tops out quick

if you have a race lst..and you lightend it some..the nova roto .21 is awsome and you cant beat it for the price..(but its a nova it takes time to break in..but last forever)

BrettL 02-23-2009 06:35 PM

Never Electric

I'll never go electric. I like everything about nitro. I want to find a happy medium of torque and speed. It seems the best way would be to stick with the 2-speed unless I can find just the right gearing combo.

I don't think there ever was one. The LST2 came with 18/25 and you could buy a plus 1 (hi speed), 19/26.
