today i was out at this new place to bash that i found and it looks totally awesome. lots of hills and jumps. so i get ready and my lst2 wouldnt go. it was starting fine but when id gas it it would just rev higher as i squezed the trigger but nogo. the night before i put some 3 in 1 oil on the 1-way bearing to prevent any gear sticking/slipping. but i think i oiled it too much. i put 3 to 4 drops on the 1-way and 3 to 4 drops on the smaller spurs bearing. and when i opened the gear box to see whats up out at the spot. there was a lot of soot and the smaller spur looked slightly worn, not runined but some of the teeth were a little ruff. could i have over oiled it and thats whats causing that laboring engine high reving cause it would just barly creep around. well i shut it down and came home, disapointed. tonight i took the transmision apart and there doesnt seem to be anthing wrong in there. but i now have another problem. in the manuel it says to re-lub w/ losi assembly greese well i dont have any on hand and my local hobby shop is 30 min. away. is there some = that will work just as well that i can pick up a a auto parts shop or osh or is the losi stuff the only way to go? hope somone can help me out. thanx, clay unruh

i didnt notice any slipping two days before when i drove it. matter of fact it ran really well. do you think i need to take the clutch thing apart. you know unscrew the screws that determine when it shifts or can i just wipe it off really well? also what does a bad spur look like cause there are just a few teeth(id say 8 or 9) that look just slightly ruff. they dont look really chewed up or anything. and thanx for the advice, clay

Clay,
I would take the complete spur and two speed assembly off the truck. Get some parts cleaner and clean it all real good and get all the oil off. Most likely the one-way is just slipping as that is a really common thing to happen on the lst2 trucks. And there is also a chance that you could have possibly over oiled the bearing and some oil worked its way back to the slipper pads.
Take it all apart and clean it good with parts cleaner. Then blow everything off with compressed air. Then just put 1 drop of oil on the one-way bearing and reinstall it and try that. If that doesn't work there is a TON of good advice on lstforums.com
Come on over and register on the forums. Even if my advice fixes your problem there is some good info and really nice people on there.....

I was going to say the samething.. My sons LST2 did the same thing and still does it often.. just a normal job after each race now..
( but brent, I don't have those problems with my Revo PE... hahahah). Kevin

I have never had a one way in the spur set up that slipped, it sounds to me like maybe you got oil inside the clutch bell, and its not allowing the clutch shoes to fully engage the the clutch bell. If the one way slips at all the truck wouldnt move, yet the first post stated that the truck would barely move. I would check the inside of the clutch bell, clean it out and scar it up with some medium grit sand paper, should fix you right up.

Is been a minor issue since my son bought his truck.. at first we thought it was the owb, but our LHS helped us out and also said thats a common issue with the LST2 also..its a simple and a preventive mat. thing to check and do after each race day..Kevin

I have hours and hours on my slipper clutch and haven't oiled or anything with no problems, pretty much maintenance free. One thing I would suggest is to take off the outer spur/pinion cover and see if the the clutch bell is turning while it 'slips'. If it isn't turning it is definitely the clutch not the slipper clutch. I have had no luck with running the stock LST2 clutch for very long with the clutches staying intact. If it is the clutch, a bullet proof clutch is the Fioroni Turbo sliding clutch. It is a little expensive, but it absolutely rock solid!!!! I usually got one weekend on the stock shoes before they were shot, but I got a whole summer with the Fioroni clutch and it's still running strong!!!
You may have to shim the motor up about 1.5 - 2.0mm and flip one of the slipper clutch gears to align the gears properly with the spur gear and possibly use athe Dremel on the top deck for clutch bell clearance, but the trouble will be worth it (I had to do this with the TiNi gears).
As was mentioned, LSTFORUMS.COM has a lot of info on the Fioroni conversion along with a TON of other useful info. One other LST2 tip....
