I have been drooling over this vehicle. I feel that it may have been made for me. I want a truck that I can put a pounding on without worrying about moisture and stuff breaking. However, looking at the picture of it in R/C Car magazine, it doesn't seem to be able to fit LiPo packs. Has anyone here gone LiPo with this truck? Can the stock ESC even handle it? If not what brushless motor system would you reccomend if I can indeed go LiPo?

I love this truck. It would be a great thing to let my friends use when they come over to my house due to durability and my friends being either crazy or lacking in hand-eye coordination.

2 Cell LiPos with capacity less than 6000 MaH will fit perfectly. I've seen one with two Orion 4800's and another with MaxAmp 6000's. The stock speed control will handle the LiPos without a problem, it only starts crapping out when it sees 7 cell batteries.

Ahh thanks. I think I am going to run 2 TC 5400mah packs when I get the truck later this spring. Just gotta finish restoring an RC10 gold pan.

Do cells greater than 6000mah have different dimensions? I thought the new E-maxx was rated for 16.8v. Why would they crap out on 7 cells (2 7-cell packs provide 16.8v in series)? Just need to get things clear because I'm looking into getting one sometime soon.

I'm assuming the OP was talking about the new Emaxx because of the moisture reference.

LiPo batteries with capacity greater than 6000 MaH tends to start getting too thick. On the older E-Maxxes, the bigger batteries will fit since the battery hold-down posts can be backed off, giving more depth space for the batteries. On the new E-Maxx, it uses a plastic clip-on strap, so there is no way to increase space for the larger batteries.

As for the speed control, yes, it is rated at 16.8V, but there are quite a few people killing them with 7 cell Nickel batteries. Check out the E-Maxx thread in this section, or perhaps someone with one can provide their personal input.

Wait a minute, the stock esc does not have LVC, you will ruin your lipo batteries please do not run without an lvc installed. That is another problem, you can't run two lvc with the stock esc, but can be done you will have to read more about doing this. I would just invest in a brushless system like MMM that is coming out in a couple of weeks.
