for a new 3.3 thorough the replacement plan is only $110 with trade in of your old motor. so if you gave your LHS your old motor and$135 you got ripped.

Many of the shops are still using the old system where it is 133+5 bucks for the 3.3, so although you paid more then if you would have mailed your engine in, you did not, per say, get ripped.

also if your motor is fine and you just wanted to upgrade to a 3.3 you just strip down your motor and turn it in and you get like 110 to 135 bucks off your 3.3. thats how its been for me.

Default 3.3 engine

It was quicker and less hassle to just send it to Traxxas not to mention bypassing the middle man . I'm totally for supporting the hobbyshops , don't get me wrong , but when you want it asap , send it to Traxxas . Then go to the hobbyshop to get the new air filter , one way bearing ect. ect .

there are options without sending the motor, some online stores have the 3.3 for $129 to $140 new or you can just buy the piston/sleeve kit for around $70 and rebreak-in the motor

I asked the lhs in Edmonton Alberta about this and they told me they don,t
do the exchange. So I wen't to Hobby Wholesale down the road and asked
them. They said it can't be done in Canada any more. This was last month.
Has anyone else tried to exchange their 3.3 in Canada lately. Other wise
I'll go O.S. In that case I know the .18 tm produces 1.6 hp. and the .18tz
has 2.3 hp or so. But what is the 3.3 rated at?

you can buy a new 3.3 on ebay for 115-135 bucks shipped and get to keep the old engine, or heck, sell the old engine for parts and you could end up paying 70-90 bucks for the new one.

If you go to www.traxxas.com it is cheaper than most shops. I did it at a local shop and ended up paying 140 with tax for the 3.3. on there it like 110 and 5 for shipping, only prob is the wait time. Smaller engines are only 85

Cool

If you are paying more than $110 for a 3.3 you are getting ripped. I got charged $135, complained to Traxxas, Traxxas called the hobby shop to tell them to give me a $25 refund.
