Where did all this drivel about insulting someone's intelligence come from? All I've ever said was you are giving wrong advice on how to go about troubleshooting a shifting problem on the t-maxx, and ignoring the possibility that based on your advice someone could turn a 5 minute job into a few hours of having to take out their transmission and open it up to fix something that was not a problem until they followed your advice.

sounds like the gear mesh is all wrong. sounds to be the gears are to far apart. you have the right bearings int here? did you buy the right gears the second time you replaced them?
i dont think i can get wrong of replacing the gears inside 'coz there's only one size that can be fit inside the center transmission the 28t and 26t for both gears and same part# and also theres no way of meshing gears,if you put that both gears inside its all sitting intact there,and the bearings is all in good condition.does anybody have a guess whats wrong in always stripping gears in primary fwd(28T)and forward only(26) gears? by the way thanks to you advice,just need some more great ideas...:D:lol::tire: |
it was just a thought i dont mess with the tranny to much just with the shift points and the forward only gears. is there enough lube inside there? could you be getting them too hot and just breaking them or something? just a thought maybe

As for your latest rant, what you are missing, or don't know due to of lack of experience with older maxx trucks is the the second set screw found on older model black transmissions holds the two speed clutch to the shaft rather than it being pinned on like the later versions. If a new guy doesn't know this and loosens the the wrong set screw his transmission has to come out and be split to get it back right, BEFORE he will be able to adjust his shift point using the correct set screw. You have failed to mention this second set screw or the potential for the major problems associated with messing with it in any of your posts. Since I have mentioned this more than once and you have missed it every time, you must also suffer from reading comprehension problems as well as lack of experience with older maxx transmissions. Why else would you continue to make a fool of yourself by ignoring this very real problem found in older t-maxx black transmissions? You also assure the guy he has no tuning problem which is the first thing he should be looking at BEFORE he needs to worry about shift point adjustment as a bad tune keeping the engine from reving high enough is by far the most common cause of 2 speed shifting problems in both the t-maxx and revo. |

hi, to everybody i need help in solving my problem about the stripgears of my t-maxx in primary gear(28t) and forward only gear(26t),i've been replacing it for twice but it always keep on stripping both gears everything is in good shape except for those 2 gears in contact it always doing this way.im using a 22t clutch bell and .21 os rg eng.,and the 2speed is set in time of rpm,w/the extended chassis and cvd's all around so thus anybody can tell me whats the problem in my gears..thanks in advance for the good advice..by the way im from philippines a weekend basher only for this t-maxx 3.5............:tire::lol::D
want to share some pics of my hobby. There are however a couple of things you can do to help minimize this problem. Starting with your slipper, put 12 pucks in the slipper gear and adjust it so it's not locked down or overly tight. Pucks from earlier versions of the AE MGT (AE P/N 25042), work better than the traxxas pucks so replace your stockers with the AE pucks if you can get them. They will give you a much more adjustable slipper than the traxxas pucks so you can loosen your slipper a bit to help reduce shock loads to your transmission on jump landings which is where the greatest loads are placed on your driveline. Even better would be to get a pad type slipper like the Strobe or Robinson. The latest version of the MGT has a dual disk slipper which would also be good if it will fit the maxx. I haven't tried this yet, but I know you can use the puck type MGT slipper gears on a maxx so maybe the dual disk AE slipper would also fit the maxx input shaft as well. Next is your engine clutch, set it up so it comes in at lower RPM. Do this by using softer springs and composite shoes. Depending on how heavy your truck is you may get some low end slippage, but it shouldn't be too bad and this little bit may be all you need to save your transmission gears. If none of the above works, it's time to start hunting some steel transmission gears. Robinson makes some for the maxx, but I don't know if they are for the older version or if they will only work in the revo-tec (gray) maxx trans. You could also consider upgrading to the revo-tec maxx transmission. It's much tougher than the older gearboxs, but will still fold like a cheap suit behind a hot rod big block. it should however handle an RG just fine. If you go the revo-tec route you will also have to upgrade your center driveline to revo-tec parts as the brake rotor mounts differently on the gray gearbox than it does on the black one. |

@fhm555
thanks bro for a nice tips,try to do it if i have time finding the ae mgt parts,but right now i'm already using the rrp steel dual disc slipper kit and i think i set it to a medium tight,anyway i'll consider your tips thanks again bro....:p:D:tire::lol: |
