I run Traxxas top fuel 33% in mine X SS at an average of 240 degrees and I usually get close to 20 minutes outta of a tank.

so the higher the fuel content the longer it lasts?
also is a temp gun a must for monitoring the engine?

No, normally the higher the nitro content the shorter the runtime is because you normally have to richen up the mixture. I used to race 1/10 scale dirtoval with an O.S. .18 and on blue thunder 20% nitro i could not make the 75cc fuel tank last the 4 mins i had to race. I made the jump to the 33% one night because i picked up a gallon cheap one night and at the end of each race that night i still had about 1/2 a tank of fuel and the engine ran cooler. I looked into it and the oil content is higher in the top fuel than the blue thunder, thats the only difference i found between the two, now why i get better fuel economy i do not know.

As for your second question, no a temp gun is not a must but it does help allot. I never aim to run a certain temperature, i just try to stay under about 260 and above 210. You can tune it safely by sound, feel, power ect... but a temp gun makes it easier to make sure your not to lean or too rich.

No not really, mine is usually goin balls to the wall hard on the brakes, turn it back around, nail the throttle again, wheelies so hard it lands on the damn roof, take the mad full sprint dash to put the truck back on the wheels, feather into the throttle again and go balls to the wall. Repeat, and repeat some more. For right around 20 mins lol.

Its no joke but yes you can get 15 minutes easily. No i havent used a stopwatch to time it, but just knowing what time i start it to what time it dies from running out of fuel is usually for me close to 20 mins.

I call BS, whats a Savage Tank - 175CC?

tank in my LST2 is 225CC and racing it gets 10 mins tops on a tank and I drive conservatively. I raced a savage also a couple years ago and it didnt do any better, actually in race mode it was lucky to get 7 minutes.

LOL im not trying to start anything, but for some reason i seem to get allot more runtime than most savage owners. I didnt know i was out of the ordinary when i stated that i get close to 20 mins. I thought that was pretty normal until this thread came along.
