What Diff Oil To Use!?

well, i havent been around here in a while...but, i have a tmaxx 3.3 that i recently exploded the front diff in...i'm going to be upgrading a few parts, and i'm wondering what wt oil i should use in the diff!?...i've read a couple places to just use regular axle grease, but i wasnt sure if that was the proper thing to do or not!?...any help would be appricaiated...thanks!

IF the diffs are similar to the Revo and sealed, I would use like 30k/10k or 50k/30k if they are not sealed, grease works fine, you just need to fill them occasionally as the diff oil will seep out much faster than the grease will.

It's been a while since I"ve owned a Maxx, but can you even fill the diffs with fluid?

that is what i'm not sure of...it seems like its just grease in there...BUT, its really hard to tell since are so many pieces of metal inside mine...i'm not sure what it was supposed to be...

is the diff cup metal? if so, and it has a gasket then you can use diff oil, if it is not metal, or it doesn't have a gasket, use grease

the 2.5 maxx diffs were not sealed, therefore you could only use grease, and it would even leak out. I don't have a new maxx, so I am not sure.

its not metal (stock anywayz)...thats what exploded and took out one of the screws and alot of gears with it...the one i'm getting for it is metal, so hopefully it will prevent any further problems...but, to answer my own question from what you guys have mentioned, it sounds like i just need to use grease...thanks guys!

there is a possibility you can use oil, just make sure to use a gasket, you will know fairly quickly, as it will leak out when you are running. Grease is a safe bet though. I use mobil 1 synthetic, but any good auto grease should work just fine.
