What a PITA these MT's are with rolling over during turns. Any tips on preventing this?

Can you elaborate on the offset wheels? I'm not entirely sure what you mean by that.

is this a problem on the track or just bashing in the backyard? i had traction roll issues with my tires(i have bow ties mounted on 1/2in offset wheels) at the track. to solve this try trimming the outer tread to a 45 degree angle. also proline makes 1/2 inch offset wheels for 17 and 23 mm hubs. they make a huge difference in racing.

It's not as much a problem at the track as it is on asphalt, but I do in fact need a better suspension set-up at the track. For the life of me, I can't figure out what's needed to lower the ride height.

I had the same problem years ago with an Ofna pirate hybrid. It had the hyper .21 on it. It came with real rounded tires. Tipped at the blink of an eye. I started running a sharper edge tire and it fixed a lot of it. Except really fast turns. like this:

When I got my Savage I figured those pin tires that came with it were going to be a problem, so I never put them on. I went with a set Orion Meathooks. Something like that.

I'm currently running a set of Revo tires and rims that work quite nicely. (I know, sacrilege.)

The offset that deftones was refering to is this. If you look at that last pic of mine you can see the wheel nut is almost flush with the outside of the tire. On an offset one, it is deeper into the rim. making the tire stick further out and giving the truck a wider "stance".

Lowering the truck is done by several different methods. I'd search the Savage thread, I'm sure there are many different ways to do that. I don't race mine, I just beat the snot out of it. That's what it was intended for. So I want all the clearance I can get.

As a few others have said lower the CG will help as will wide offset wheels. Lower the body as low as it will go. The tuning of your suspension is another good place to start. Stiffer springs in the front will cause less roll and less bite. Adjusting the camber and tow in/out will also effect the way it turns into a corner. You could also try sway (anti-roll) bars.

Moving your shocks mounts to the most inside point at the top and the most outside point on the bottom will help lower the ride height and CG. Shorter springs will help too.

For on road use tires that are more suited to the surface will make the biggest difference.

errrrrrr, your not supposed to use an MT on the street.

use thicker shock oil (dont go past 35wt though) try a LCG chassis (the X chassis lowers the truck 5mm, an aftermarket LCG chassis will lower it 12mm (7mm more then the X).

then use some shorter springs (either cut the stock ones or you could use e-zilla/savage stiff springs, i know they are shorter then Savage springs).

after that, its up to your driving to keep it planted.

Fellas, you have my thanks on this one. I've been searching, reading your posts and have a great baseline to start with.

One question though on the offset wheels. Is this a spacer of some sort to use with my existing wheels or is this a set of offset wheels period? A link would be greatly appreciated.

what tires are you using? if they have knobs on them, trim the outside row.

use stiffer springs.
