Thanks for the info! 1 drawback is there are 0 LHS in my area (Central Ca). Any preferred on line shops? i deal w/Maxamps for LiPo, etc and they have always done me right.

online shops... i mostly use towerhobbies. but i think their main store is closer to the east where i live... or you could go directly from traxxas. two stores ive delt with and like are www.towerhobbies.com and www.amainhobbies.com . both had good service and were fast. but like i said. i mostly go through my LHS and let them get everything. also try horizonhobby.com. but towerhobbies has literally every part for the stampede(i know ive looked and oredered it all for my LHS(i work there)) so they should set you up right. cheap shipping and great prices.

cool- I'll check them all out. Thanks!

Try Google. It says there are numerous shops around Stockton.
I somewhat agree that supporting your LHS is a good idea. However, in order for me to buy the vehicle itself, they need to match my lowest online price. For instance, if I find a Mega Baja for $419, there's no way I'm paying $550 locally.
Parts are a different story. It's not worth it usually to price shop on one-sie two-sie stuff. And just about every LHS carries Traxxas.

streetracer745 12-11-2007 08:40 PM

i agree with that fact no dought. for buying cars, online is cheaper. so i typically buy online. but for parts... your not gonna be off more than $1. and a hobby shop isnt a very high paying busness, so they deserve it. IMO

besides buying from on-line stores ie: Tower etc., anybody know of any LHS in the Stockton, Lodi Ca area?

streetracer745 12-12-2007 06:59 PM

bro i live on the other side of the country. im on the east coast. mapquest or google it or somethin. or look under hobby in the phone book. that shoulc give you an idea.

long time, no pedein here. gonna trade my ps2 for a roller. cant wait. :tire:'s r turning soon.

streetracer1 01-11-2008 01:57 PM

i'm finishing my pede build very soon. i'm just waiting to get my vxl back from traxxas and i'm off and pedeing again

bowl806 01-11-2008 07:11 PM

ok I finally searched out the VXL pede through Tower/MaxAmps. i figure this setup is gonna cost about almost 5 Big Bills =2 batt (1 Lipo) + truck) Is that about right?

streetracer745 01-13-2008 06:37 PM

batt, charger, balancer, and truck is gonna cost you just over 5 bills yeh. and man we are gonna have some problems with two streetracer now... me(streetracer 745) and now streetracer1. but man to be honest with you, dont get a 3s lipo in a pede. IMO its too much power for it. all you do is flip and somersault. if you want the crazy power though, go with somethin more like the rcdemon batteries. they are good quality and massive power, but a little more weight to help keep you on the ground. or go lipo like i did and strap some big wings onto it:D

bowl806 01-13-2008 10:51 PM

Streetracer745- thanks for the input! Yeah 3s Lipo is way too much power; 2s might be a little strong too. I think i decided on Venom or Orion 4200 6 or 7 cell; enough power to do wheelies and tear around the dirt. That's all i need. anything close to 5 bills is a bit steep for me. i put close to 4 (maybe more) in my Mini Cooper and it is hard, if not next to impossible, to keep that on the ground.

streetracer745 01-14-2008 03:25 PM

yes the venom 7 cell "himp" pack is great. we ran two in our new e-maxx as a demo truck. on those batts it did like 35-40ish probly. those cells rip. id recomend one. probly same power as a 2s lipo with the same price, but no balancers or anything.

bowl806 01-14-2008 04:15 PM

what if any difference would there be if i used a 6-cell 7.2 Venom or Orion instead of building a 7 cell?

streetracer745 01-14-2008 04:28 PM

you could get probly between 5 and 10 mph with the right gearing with the extra cell. most likely around 5 to keep everything cool. and a lot more acceleration. dont build a 7 cell. they come in packs of 4(the trinitys we sell and i love those) so you could build an 8 cell pack which would be even more for right around $80-90 probly? and you could get the venom 7 cell 5000mAh battery for $85 either way would be a very noticable difference IMO.
