what a nice clean truck  seriously puts mine to shame as even though i have only had it 3 weeks it is already looking seriously tatty from all the hard work that it has had ;)
even though i only have the .21 motor it is plenty fast enough for a newbie so i can only imagine how quick the .28 must be
these things also handle really well for such a big truck, still cant get the hang of jumping though

mach51 08-08-2006 01:16 PM

thanks. I actually ditched the .28 in favor of a Mach .26. I think it accelerates quicker with this engine. So much so, that I just bought a LST2 and sold the new 427 and put another .26 in it.

You do NOT have to do all the stuff Ive done to mine to go fast. Ive got a buddy with a bone stock MGT and on a very very simple home made track he could keep up with me most of the time - it was actually kind of embarrassing. Driving skill is always the great equalizer.

savagebeaster 08-08-2006 03:01 PM

the truck is looking great, i need to replace my stock wheel/tyres set-up. i want to get some 23mm hex ones. the proline wheels and bowties are alittle expensive though. Any cheaper versions available.

Apparently not a very popular truck, I have an MGT 4.6 myself, my first Nitro actually, a good truck in my opinion. I figured after 20 years of running electrics I would graduate to nitro's :D

mach51 08-10-2006 06:47 AM

not sure why it didnt take off in popularity. It hasnt really had any bad knocks against it or reputation for breaking. Its pretty durable, dependable and makes a decent racer.

Kensai 08-11-2006 10:43 AM

Well I guess they are so good they just don't need to be talked about :D

animal47 08-11-2006 11:49 AM

one thing that i will say is dont jump it without the shell on
was doing some tuning today with the shell off and thought a couple of jumps wont hurt  one snapped shock tower and smashed fuel tank later
for all the people that own these trucks, where do you get your spares from because i am having trouble getting a few small parts

Kensai 08-11-2006 12:11 PM

Local hobby shop is where I go for parts, and if they don't have it I order it through them. Yikes on the flattened fuel tank and snapped shock tower, major bummer there. Go to www.rc-solutions.com, they have rollcages and shocktowers for your MGT :D

rcracenut 08-11-2006 06:37 PM

Are there other more durable liners for the Proline 40 series tires? Someone told me one time there is but I dont remember who had it. The stock liners dont hold up well.
I have 2 MGTs and love them. They are fast and handle well with only a few changes to the shock oil , some springs and tires. They love to win. They do it often.

savagebeaster 08-12-2006 03:57 AM

I love my MGT aswell, i find it more fun to drive than my savage, so far its been as tough and MORE reliable. Must be the best 1/8th truck to work on. :)

dallasv8 08-12-2006 04:26 AM

has anyone had trouble with the standard size wheel hexes stripping out the inside of the wheels?

mad mike mta4 08-12-2006 04:54 AM

i had problems with hexs ripping out off wheels but only because wheel nuts kept coming loose .problem mainly on rear wheels because to much strain on rear from wheelies and landing on rear wheels off jumps found fitting two wheel nuts on each wheel sorted the problem for me . i have mta4 which is same as mgt . buy your parts from thunder tiger they nearly half the price of associated parts and exactly the same

savagebeaster 08-12-2006 07:55 AM

Ive never had this problem myself but have heard of it happening, as previously said this is becuase the wheel nuts loosen off. if im going out for an all day bash then i normally threadlock the wheel nuts on, if i then have to remove them for any reason i then put them back on using 2 wheel nuts per wheel.
