Hmm....Check the glow plug if it's still ok. Check your needle settings too. If it's a new engine, please follow the break-in procedure which came with kit. Good luck.

Have you messed with any of the neddle setting since you broke it in? If so start from factory setting for the high speed needle and go from there. I was having the same problem last night. I screwed the HSN all the way in and then backed it off 1/4 of a turn till it would stay running. You will have to back it out aways. I know have it running last a rabbit on crack and going to mess with the LSN to get all the power out of it that it will do.

You can also try turning in the Idle screw a little bit like 1/8 turn each time. And try to start it. It just might be the idle is too low.

Also, does it run when you give it throttle or just sounds like it's running because it's turning over with the EZ Start. Another member said to check the glow plug to make sure it good. Get rid of the simple stuff first.

I have raced these motors since they came out. I too would check the glow plug first, then make sure you have no holes in your fuel lines (look for sm pin holes too). Once you have checked all that reset your needles. The low speed should be flush with the end, then turn your hig speed in very slowly all the way until it stops (don't go to far or you will mess up the needle) once you have closed it then turn it out 3 3/4 turns. The go from there. If you need to you can close the low speed 1/16 of turn until it runs. I hope that helps.

PSO, if you don't have anything god to say to somebody about there problem, don't say anything. All I ever see you right is how great the Savage is and everything else is junk. You seem to know it all, but you don't!!! It's getting old!!! For your info, the 2.5 is one of the fastest engines out there, faster then ANY savage motor, unless you've upgraded to some high tech motor.

i just put in a new glow plug tried to back the needle and checked to see if it was flooded and backed stuff out it wont fire at all now, last night i almost started it, i could tell a differance between the ez start and it trying to start.... if my motor were to be worn out like the piston wasnt in tune with the sleeve would that cause it not to start also because i bought it used and im not quite sure how many times he used it, i know ive put atleast 2 gallons through it myself

That could be the problem. Check your compression. You can do this when the motor is cold. Spin the fly wheel counterclockwise with your finger, it should get hard to turn and then you'll here a pop. If it turns real easy and you don't hear a pop, your piston and sleeve are worn out.

If that is the case you should replace the piston, sleeve and connecting rod. Alot of people will overlook the con rod, but it does stretch with use, so you might as well do it while you are in there. If you don't and it breaks it will tear up the piston and sleeve antway and you'll have to do it all over again. It's about $100 for the parts. For that I would just send the motor back to Traxxas with $105 and get a brand new rebuilt motor from them. The price might have changed so i would check there website and look under the motor section. Good luck, if you need anymore help, just holler.

This may be a stupid question, but have you ever left fuel in it after you have run it? You might just have blockage. Nitro fuel gums up after it sits for awhile. Try this: Put a little fuel in the tank, then blow through the pressure line and see if fuel gets to the carb. You might even want to take the high speed needle all the way out then blow fuel and let it run out the high speed needle, just to make sure that there is no clog there. I just thought of this and it's going to sound stupid, but a buddy of mine was having this same problem with his MGT and it turned out to be his head was loose. He had replaced it and then run a few tanks, but never rechecked it. Once I tightened it up it worked great. Now I'm all out of ideas without seeing the motor, sorry, you might just want to take it to your LHS or go to the track and talk to somebody there.

well i did end up going to the lhs (but without money) to try and figure my problem out. we went through all the possible ideas. nothing tried it all.... then we changed counters cuz i was looking at new engines and there was fuel on top of the counter and he asked me about my fuel... now i know that it absorbs moisture but i didnt know that it could absorb that much, mine is a year old and he said that it was too old and said fuel usuallly goes bad or is terrible after about a month being opened i didnt know that..... hmmm... any way i couldnt get any so i will go on monday night to check it out.... is there a way to test your fuel before you put it in to see if it is saturated with water?
