Default Big Air Setup Tips

I'm new to Monster Trucks, I have an Arrma Granite 4x4 BLX 3S and Arrma Outcast 6S. What are some setup tips for Big Air? (ride height, droop, shock oil, etc.)

to survive the impact, go up in springs and ride height, maybe stiffer fluid too.

I have notice on some videos that some people have their front and rear shock collars are all the way down for max ride height, is that best for max air?

Ramp angle will really have a big effect. It’s been awhile since I was doing a lot of jumping. Outcast is good at it. Stock springs won’t take long to wear down. Tekno spring are a good replacement. They have a range of spring rates to choose from. Can’t remember which ones I use. Rear wing/wheelie bar/ rear chassis brace is a weak spot. There’s a big air guy named Rich on YouTube that did a bunch with the Outcast. I’ll find one of his videos for you.

There’s another here, haven’t seen him post recently. I’ll find his thread.

can i put my 2 cents ?

where will you jump ? what type of ramps and where will you land ?

here is what i like to do : 1/ change the shock pistons for one with smaller holes or even close some holes of the pistons. the goal is to get more "pack" and get better take offs
2/ put lighter tires
3/ put a longer gearing ratio with the most powerfull setup ( 6s, bigger motor )
4/ put a light lipo
5/ reinforce the chassis braces and get strong bumpers

I'm looking for a good spot to run my trucks, there is a BMX park close by I haven't contacted them to if I could use it. I have two large Discount Ramps and two 10-80 ramps that I put together to make one ramp I have been just using the 10-80 in my yard.

Shock pistons with less holes or thicker shock fluid would be my first upgrade. As Werner said, it will help with takeoffs, and it'll also help with landing. When you land hard, the chassis can slap the ground and not only does that beat the hell out of the RC, but it can make you lose control because there's not enough weight on the tires. Stiffer shocks (either via valving or shock oil) will reduce chassis slap and keep the tires in control when you land.

oh ok ! it takes some jumps to get the right reflex : correcting the balance ( throttle , brake , left, right ) to correct the balance of the car if needed

i would advice you to start small and get your way up. try to land on a softer ground first : tall grass, sand, pile of leaves

your Arrma Granite 4x4 BLX 3S and Arrma Outcast 6S are ok right out of the box. you can start with them stock. as you go bigger you can modify them
