t-maxx shift problems
 

my t-maxx 2.5 will not shift into 2nd, even when i let it rev to its limit, it doesnt shift. i have adjusted the screw for the shift point, and it does nothing! the thing was, i was driving it a few days ago, and the shifter worked! am i going to have to take the transmission out, and fiddle around with the gears? i have not overtightened or overloosened the screw.

Before you do that, lean it out some. Mine wont shift it its too rich.

well this can actually be alot of problems....

crushed spring,broken clutch engaging notch,engine tuning i suggest u tune ur engine correctly and then pull apart the tranny and lookat the 2nd gear closely

i just ripped the tranny apart, for the first time, and this isnt as complex as i thought it would be. i see the gears, the smaller one is supposed to move freely, right? i checked the spring on the 2nd gear , and it looks fine. what would happen if i removed the screw/spring completely? would it cause both gears to engage, and shred eachother? i havnt tried tuning it to its best, but i rev it MUCH higher than it usually took to shift, but it doesnt. i am puzzled.

if there is anyone who is experienced with these trannsmisions, i may trade this stock one , with another working stock one, for a deal! i am tired of this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

while you have it apart clean the oneway bearing in there and then replace the 2 speed clutch there like $18 and they come pre set. if that dosent do it you are not pulling the high rpm's needed to shift it!

oh, i just realized whats wrong. the spring is bent wierd, probably from a high jump i did before this problem...

no no no NO NO the spring is not bent from a jump!!!!!! its from overtightening !!!!!!! does it look dimented?? its from overtightening man never ever tighten a spring more than 1 1/2 max 2 turns from factory position !

oh well, i just ran it with a new spring, and its fine, and it shifts. i may have overtightened it, but the problem is fixed now. thanks!
