Default Urgent engine help required!

Hi people,

I have posted a thread already regarding a damaged Thunder Tiger SSK engine which has damaged heatsink fins.

I am in a position to purchase a replacement & have seen a few contenders
on Ebay.

Is there any reason why i cannot use engines which have been removed
from either helicopters or airoplanes?

They do not look that different to me so the reasons they may not be suitable
are not obvious.

Many thanks in advance for your advice & suggestions for a replacement
which i novice would be capable of fitting.

airplane engines have small cooloing fins, because a lot of wind is always rushing past them when they run. putting one in your car may run, but it will overheat, unless you Find a way to cool it. i recently experimented by puting a airplane engine in my maxx, and found that larger size engines fit, but, with the engine i had , it only ran for 10 minutes before it reached scortching temps of 367 degrees! unless you find a effecient way to cool a airplane angine inside a truck, i strongly urge you NOT to get one of those. buy a real ,engine meant for cars with the large fins, or try to get another head for it. ( i saw that thread)

good luck

Thanks for your swift reply Jonathon that takes care of that little issue.
Glad i asked before wasting my money on a ten minute blast!

Now the toss up between a replacement head or a bigger lump if i can
one that will fit without to much modification.

Thanks again.

Snoop,
Why don't you try an STS M28 monster engine. It puts out 3.6 hp at around 40000rpm and can stand an occassional over heat condition. I have one with 6 gallons through it and it's still has more compression than some of my engines with less compression. Believe you can get more info from [email protected] He's the US STS distributor.
Have fun

Hi Picman & thanks for your offer but i have taken a gamble on
a second hand Team Infinity .15 engine which was complete with
filter carb & exhaust.

Gonna keeps things fairly controlable for now as i keep crashing the
damn thing

When i feel im ready for an upgrade i think i will treat myself to
a Kawasaki quad thingy as they look like fun.

Thanks again.

he would need a BB conversion to fit a .28 inthere, and an upgraded drivetrain at that.

Airplane engines do not have the high rpm's that car engines have, there rpm's top out at like 17,000 to maybe 22,000 rpms( you may fine some a little higher but not much) and they dont have the torque either.

Thanks for your advice chaps.

Team Infinity engine fitted & after a few starting hiccups she now runs like a dream ready for me to gain some more practice.

Thanks again
