The 14th Annual Hobby Haven Shootout is just over 4 months away and I'm happy to announce that JConcepts is our title sponsor for the 5th year in a row! This is Iowa's biggest off-road race and along with JConcepts we have 55 other great sponsors including 12 that are brand new to the Shootout. And speaking of sponsors, X Factory and Tekno RC are back as class sponsors for this year's Shootout.
In the Stock 2WD Buggy class X Factory will award a FREE CF X - 6 Cubed conversion kit to the highest finishing driver who is not already sponsored. And Tekno RC is sponsoring both the Modified 4WD Short Course Truck and 1/8 Electric Buggy classes. They will award a sponsorship to the highest finishing driver in the Modified 4WD Short Course Truck class who is not already sponsored, and in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class a FREE Tekno RC conversion kit will be given away at random to one lucky A Main finalist.
JConcepts will be providing each racer a FREE JConcepts event t-shirt (while supplies last). Hobby Haven will also be giving away a FREE official Shootout pit towel to every racer (while supplies last), and if you pre-pay by August 23rd your towel is guaranteed (limit one towel per driver). So this year's Shootout promises to be better than ever!
Total entries will be limited to 250 this year so get signed up soon at the store or at RCSignUp.com. Help spread the word and I hope to see you at this year's Shootout!

Online registration has been open for 2 weeks now and we are up to 86 entries. Entries taken at the store will be added to the online registration site as well so once we hit 250 we will close online registration and start a waiting list. So make sure to get signed up soon!
Also, door prizes are starting to arrive now so look for teaser pictures in a few weeks.
And again as a friendly reminder, a free Shootout pit towel is guaranteed to each racer with a pre-paid entry submitted by August 23rd. (Limit one towel per driver). So to make sure to pay early to reserve your towel.

X Factory is the official sponsor of the 2WD Stock Buggy class and will give away a FREE CF X - 6 Cubed conversion kit to the highest finishing unsponsored driver in this class. Today they released some images of what the final production kit will look like and you can check it out here:

It should be a competitive class that weekend since right now it has the most entries with 21.

Since 2010 we have used RCSignup.com for online registration for the Shootout. Last year we saw 111 entries listed online which is the most we have ever had.
We are now 85 days away from the Shootout and we already have 193 entries online which exceeds our expectations! Of those 193 entries only 17 have actually paid, and this site doesn't even factor in the paid entries that are taken at the store. So we will be hitting our 250 entry limit very soon.
We want to avoid placing racers who are ready to pay for entry fees now on a waiting list, so we have contacted RCSignup.com for a solution. We are going to modify the online registration so that when you sign up you need to pay right away. RCSignup said this is the most effective way to keep tabs on the actual entry count, and they will be adding paid entries that were taken at the store to the online site too.
We have never required that you to pay when you signed up online, but clearly this race is getting more popular each year so we will use this registration format going forward.
These changes will go into effect today for new registrations. If you have already registered online AND paid your race fees then you don't need to do anything.
But if you haven't paid for race fees yet, then we will give you till 6/19/13 before we will remove your online registration.
We apologize for the inconvenience, but we think this is the most fair way to keep track of racers that are committed to attending the Shootout this year. If we reach 250 paid entries then we start a waiting list.
If something comes up and you can't make the Shootout after you had already paid your race fees, please notify us by 8/28/13 end of the business day for a full refund. And if we get rained out before the Shootout even begins then we will gladly refund your race fees.

As promised here are some sneak peeks at some of the door prizes that will be given away at this year's Shootout.
Racers Edge has donated a couple of their short course bags and pit mats. Here is one assembled for reference.
One of our new sponsors is WD-40 and they sent us a couple cans of spray and matching decals.
Like in previous years we have a plethora of hats and shirts.
Lots of smaller items like body reamers, scissors, drivers, etc.
Finally, Tekno RC is our official class sponsor for the 1/8 Electric Buggy class. One lucky A Main finalist in that class will win this V4 brushless conversion kit for the RC8B.

Just a friendly reminder that if you have registered online at RCSignup.com and not paid for your race fees yet, you have one more week to get this done before we start removing entries to make room for paid racers. Thanks for your cooperation!

Just another friendly reminder that if you have registered online at RCSignup.com and still have not paid for your race fees yet, you have till tomorrow morning to get this done before we remove unpaid entries to make room for paid racers. Thanks for your cooperation!

Ok the signup purge is complete and we have removed all of the unpaid entries. We are back "down" to 102 entries but of course these are all paid entries now. So if your entry just got deleted, no worries we still have 148 spots open and you have 70 days to make payment.
Looking at the entries we do have online now it appears that we will have great mix of out of state racers. According to user profiles, we will see drivers from Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, and even Alabama! Should be a competitive event!

FTW (For The Win) is back again as a sponsor of the Shootout and they sent us a couple of their Diamondback short course truck bodies.
