The layout will stay for the season, the jumps may change during the year though. I'm not sure what you will be running for cars but in gas truck Losi red steps and red directionals are good. Holeshots would probably work well on a 4wd car. There wasn't much electric racing going on last year but that might change. Gas truck was always the biggest class. Might be a new tire game this season though.

I plan to run 4wd E buggy no matter what, but I may have a 2wd stadium truck ( electric ) to run as well. Heck, I may even pickup one of those Academy nitro vehicles too.

Look forward to the meeting to discuss ideas to increase electric participation, and 4wd E Buggy in particular.

Do you happen to know what tires were used for 2wd electric stadium truck? I got a T4 now ( actually two, need to make one good one, but for $100 can't complain ) and I want to get some tires to see how they work out.

Was the Silver compound of Step pins not functional on the track or are the Reds that much better?

Also, what other tires seemed to work well on the track for buggy and truck (Proline Lugnut, etc )?

If you are racing electric truck the silvers might work ok but when you buy new get the reds, they ARE that much better. Or proline M3 steps. Holeshots work as long as you stay in the groove but the steps are more forgiving. For fronts, anything ribbed works fairly well. Edges should be fine as well as directionals. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I am going to be buying new for truck tires. Do the compound for the front directionals matter as much or are silvers good up front?

I think I am going to be set for buggy rears and fronts as I have a pretty good selection though they are silver compound.

Looking forward to some racing!

Weather looks like it may start to keep this warming trend finally!

i got the reds as recommended, step-pins and directionals. Also got a deal on some T-bones, couldn't pass up for $5 NIB.

Look forward to the next meeting. Anything I can do let me know!

Thumbs up Track Work

We will be tearing down the track for reconstruction on Saturday, pending the weather. There will be mainly machine work in the morning but some volunteers in the afternoon or on Sunday would be nice. If you have time you could drop me an email at [email protected]. The dirt is looking pretty dry and as soon as we get rebuilt we could start holding weekly races. We have to do the dirtwork and some work to the driver's stand and we will be ready to go. We still need to decide where to put jumps in the track and some others things, if you'd like to be in on that email me and come out to the track on Saturday.

Not sure how/if this would work but for packing the track.. Would it be possilbe to just pack the track without and tubes or jumps down using real cars? That way you dont have to drive that tractor around lots of times. Not sure if it would be quicker but it would maybe pack it tighter.
Just a thought

Ok, well not to pick on you but there are a number of reasons that wouldn't work.

1st- It wouldn't pack evenly becuase cars are too heavy and would sink into the dirt making it squish and rut up.
2nd- It never works to pack the jumps and the flats seperate because it breaks up faster where the jumps and the flats meet. It's because you make two pieces out of it instead of one.
3rd- I'm not sure that we need to actually pack the track that hard.

It's a good idea though, it's nice to see people coming up with new ideas.

Maybe see you guys this weekend, although with all this rain it might be rather wet.
