I'm planning on running VTA with the lipo battery combo. I only have enough nimhs to cover my 1/12th car.

Plus I think I've dumped all of my stock brushed motors! Heh

Btw, any news on hotels or entry information?

Planning on running 1/12th, Rubber Touring, and VTA.

Hey Paul,

Like I said, we'll likely be offering a full USVTA-spec class for traveling racers provided there's enough interest. We're looking at offering that as an option for our racers here next season so there will (I hope) be a couple of our "front of the pack" racers taking advantage of this "preview opportunity".

If all else fails, I'LL spot you some 4-cell packs and Stock motors.

Hotel, entry forms, etc will be forthcoming, probably right after the New Year. We have a meeting scheduled next Monday eve to pass out assigned tasks like that. We took last month off, meeting-wise, then Scottrik figured out that starting from this Friday am I'm only IN Billings for 3 days between then and Jan 3.

Will post info as we find it. Or make it up. Or...

One more question. Generally what time do races finish up on Sunday?

Thanks,
Paul

I think we had everybody on the road who needed to be on the road by 4pm this last go-round. In fact I'm pretty sure the club members who tore down and swept, etc., were out of the building by 5pm. Sunday we only run the LCQ and the mains, so only two rounds effectively and typically start at 10am. For some unknown reason nobody likes to start at 9am...I'd be ALL for that if it meant getting folks on the road earlier. Maybe we can make it happen this time.

4pm works ok for me. That puts me home by 8 or 9 at the latest.

I'd rather start at 10am than 9am. 9am, I just don't feel like I have enough time to get ready and in a groove for the day.

Scottrik,

See this thread. Is the date still good?

We are on like Donkey Kong for Feb27-Mar 1

YES...the club will accept management duties

I'd say "let's check with Max Amps re: LiPos" I've got two of their 1500-ish packs and they work GREAT.

I say we let our man Stormer kick it around the continent and see who he can find to kick in the most race prizes... and we go with that company.

Might even be Reedy. Perhaps Tekin has something on the horizon. I'll get it handled.

Your thoughts on 11.1 volts versus 7.4? Or should we stay at 7.4?

I just like the insanity of the higher voltage.

I'd say that my Tekin 8.0KV equipped Slider is WAY insane, but maybe higher voltage should be an option for the "mod" class(es). I'd definitely stay 7.4 for most classes and allow it for someone who actually wanted to finish a Mod heat.

I'd also really like to see a true "box stock" class. Buy a Slider, compete with it as soon as the battery is charged. Require using the stock radio.

I started a thread on this a few days ago. Figured you'd have stopped in their by now. Some of this is addressed over there.

http://www.rctech.net/forum/northwes...mt-2009-a.html

I answered this over there.

FOR SURE:

1/12 Stock
1/10 TC Stock / Rubber (Jaco Blue spec tire)
1/12 Super Stock (2009 rules, 13.5 brushless only)
1/10 TC Super Stock (2009 rules, 13.5 brushless only)
Vintage Trans Am (Club Spec, 4-cell / 27T brushed only)

Very Likely (depending on pre-entries, etc):

Vintage Trans Am (full VTA spec...all VTA power combinations allowed)
WGT (power spec TBD)

If there is sufficient interest we could probably do Mod for TC and/or 1/12.

A show of hands for interest in Mod classes would be helpful too.

Thanks,

Scottrik

I'd prefer 2009 rules. Especially may want to move forward with 09 rules for anyone (such as CO boys) who are using your race as one of the warmups to nats.

My planned classes:
VTA... At least allow Brushless motors. I can do a brushed, but I need to know soon, so that I can send off m GTX's to be repaired by Novak (Blew up my last 2 brushed speedos last summer). Highest preference is lipo/21.5 though for me.

Touring Car Rubber - What ever power plant is decided on. Prefer SS, but Stock is ok.

Super Stock 12th.

I personally haven't raced enough on carpet to feel comfortable in a mod class.

OK...

Flier is undergoing some final tweaking, etc...I hope to have it tonight. I also hope to be able to announce "official" hotel and rates tonight.

Some final decisions have been made regarding classes that will run:

We will be racing SuperStock (1/12 and TC) using ROAR 2009 rules which specify 13.5 brushless only.

We will be following ROAR 2009 guidelines re: heat length, so all 1/10 electric heats will be 6 minutes.

We will be following the lead of all major races and enforcing a 865g weight minimum in all 1/12 classes. This isn't a ROAR rule, but this is what they've declared for the Carpet Nats this year so I'm guessing it's coming.

Stock Touring Car will be a rubber tire class and Jaco Blue is the spec tire. This tire is cost-effective, performs well on carpet, and is the handout tire at pretty much all major races. Don't wait until the last minute...if you plan to race Stock sedan get some ordered up. There will not be any deviations to this spec.

Vintage TA will be offered in two flavors for this event. A full USVTA-spec class that follows all USVTA rules, specs and approvals in effect as of the date of the race as posted on their site http://www.usvintagetransam.com AND our own "Club-Spec" Vintage TA which only allows 4-cell 27T brushed power and enforces a 1525g minimum weight. Otherwise all Club-Spec rules follow USVTA.

We will run a World GT class (200mm pan cars). All rules posted at their site http://www.worldgtrc.com as of the date of the race will be enforced including approvals, etc. Power will be 4-cell 13.5 only, which is the combination being run at all major events.

So the total list of classes will be:

1/12 Stock and SuperStock

1/10 TC Stock (Rubber spec tire) and SuperStock (Foam)

Vintage TA (Club-Spec and full USVTA-Spec)

World GT

Beginner or Youth Touring Car (any stock legal motor, any rubber tires, new(er) racers only)

Any of these classes will be subject to a minimum entry of 6 cars, though I'm pretty sure we can make that in all of them.

As before...count on more track time than you can possibly handle. We will have open practice until midnight both Fri and Sat nights plus open practice 2 hours each morning before racing starts. Also, when racing is happening on one track the other will be open for practice!! Speaking of which...

BRING YOUR SLIDER SPRINTERS AND LATE MODELS...'CAUSE THE 2ND ANNUAL SHORT TRACK NATIONALS ARE ON LIKE DONKEY KONG!! Bob Stormer's awesome 24' X 50' traveling road show will make a re-appearance for some SERIOUS oval fun. You haven't lived until you've lived on the ragged edge of control with an 8.0kv brushless Slider carrying the front wheels from the apex of one turn to the shut down zone for the next. I'm foaming at the mouth just THINKING about it!!

We are going to be offering event T-shirts which may require advance sign up, at least for your first choice class. My guess is that you will be guaranteed your size choice with a pre-entry, that you'll get your size on a first come-first served basis without. Will have more information re: this over the next week or so.

Anyway, feel free to ask questions--we're here to help facilitate your entry in this 19th anniversary event in any way we can.

Scottrik
