Jnr. A trans am class would be sweet, you guy only run 12th scale, minis and open 18th scale, sedan is a hit or miss. Seems like Trans-am class is taking hits else where also

Centerline Racing 01-04-2008 09:38 PM

The problem is that it was tried in the beginning with Legends. No-one wanted to run them on-road, so they stayed in oval. I haven't kept up on how the class is doing on Saturdays. Last I heard, I think they went to 4 cell.

Heck, we can't even get enough sedans at the track to fill the heats! Adding another class will just dilute the already poor-attended races.

True that!

Hey all, I went racing tonight at the OTHER BARN, the horse barn, Rehbien's BMX track up in Lino Lakes, this was the first time I had raced a bmx bike in probably close to 10 years, it was a lot of fun, and I am still in one piece, no falls or sprains, so it's all good. This was a semi annual gathering of old time racers, lots of people who used to race back in the day, and get together to BS and have some fun, some of the guys are still really competitive and fast, I was just cruising around to stay on two wheels....

WOW! Those pix bring back a lot of memories. I never really raced competitively back in the day. But I did have a Red Line with TUF WHEELS, and a GT. Man was that fun. Jeff, you're pretty damn brave to go racin' like that, I mean at your age and all:lol::weird:. I don't think I would've. KUDOS TO YOU.

PS: Were there any Rampar's on site? I always thought they sucked.:lol::D

Lino Lakes is my back yard, next time you go, let Conner and me know. We'll be your cheering section. I think Conner would get a kick out of that.

Not yet but Froyd Motorsports WILL be running 1/12th scale next season and maybe this spring if things work out right. I will be starting to accumulate parts/pieces based on what is being run at TheBarn now. I need to save up some scratch for the brushless systems and batteries. Looking at double $$'s when getting into two cars:nod::nod::nod:

I do agree with what was said about the Trans Am series class; they look cool and all but the tracks that are running them successfully have a larger turnout. If we could get a group that would/could run a Legends class on Sundays using a spec tire/motor/battery I'd give that some thought. Might just be that inexpensive fun class.

I seems to me we already have a fun and inexpensive class. The mini class is taylor made for that purpose.

The only rumblings I get is to run it with a stock motor so everyone has the same power. So for the next point series we will have a "Stock: mini class. Specs a 6-cell battery, and the stock 370 from Asc, or recoils rendition of the same.

With that in mind, when does the next point series start?

Wow jeff. I wish I would have gone. But like i said last sunday, I dont weigh 135 pounds anymore and i smoke a pack a day. I think the last time you raced was with me up in milaca about 10 years ago! I hope that vintage bike handled well

joezjr 01-05-2008 12:49 PM

I agree with allen also. We have to make the numbers stronger before any classes are added

22Racer 01-05-2008 05:54 PM

Jeff, that would have been fun to see the bike race. I knew you were going to race but I didn't know it was for old timers. Who was there that raced back in the early 80's. Maybe I'll bring my photo album next time up to the barn. I was the 1984 cruiser point champ in Mn2.

Isn't the point of starting this kind of class, is to get more people to race, and then possibly move into a different class?
