NEW MINI 8IGHT BUGGY FROM LOSI !

Hope I'm not asking for a gold spoon, but how hot is too hot on the stock motor? Also does the esc have a temp shut off?
had my first run on 2s and motor was a high 180F.

what gearing did you run?
#9738
Factory. Also ran it 3s 1600mah with a cool 150F. I drove the 2s in grass tho. 3s in grass is kinda pointless.

sounds like you explained it yourself there bud, grass will put tom much strain on the poor lil motor lol

Have you tried that yourself?
Sure, 100C is high and not recommended as somewhere along those temps the motor will start degrading, but this does not occur instantaneously and only at a specific fixed temperature. Reason why people tend to stick to 70-80C as max recommended motor temp is that beyond that point the motor becomes very inefficient and as a result only wants to become hotter and hotter, making it harder to not let temps spin out of control and suffer some permanent degradation.

we had massive faailures at temps of 90c odd plus on some motors and then on others you get motors that hit 120c and doesnt fry....good example is the lrp x series motors......they only start to perform at 100c......thats quality but scary lol. i had quite a popular motor that i did one 5minute race but i had over geared because it was a last minute thing.....89c and it never had power again...it was visibly slower!!!

Funny...
Standart brushless motors as we know it will start to degrade themselves when reaching somewhere the 90ºc.
Some brands like Scorpion will take that 90ºc as just the begining to start warming up...
Others on the deep pocket like Neu/lhener/Plettenberg will take 200ºc like those 90ºc... but you need to get lucky on them to... i read to much that neu motors sometimes do not like heat and some leopard ones will take over them.... who figures!
Sometimes it's a lotery... i had LRP motors on the past that cooked themselves....shaft's unglued and broken mags....
One thing for sure... Scorpion motors are serious powerhouses!
imo
-Being on this 1/28 scene since i enter rc years ago... Nowdays we have a little more speed on our 1/28 with more then 20minutes runs, lol

What is it that sucks with the factory radio; the receiver or the transmitter? I'm getting poor range with good batteries.
