Mini-T Engine Problem

Mini-T Engine Problem
I'm fairly new to RC so please bear with me. I recently purchased a Losi Mini Desert Truck from my LHS. No modifications were made to it. Mild to moderate use during first two sessions. Was 5 min into 3rd session on a flat stretch when power went from full to none in a matter of about 5 seconds.
Using my trusty rusty voltmeter i've gotten the following info. Battery takes and holds a charge fine. (8.3+ v) Voltage from ecs leads going to plug for motor seems fine as well. (7.8+ v) Plug in motor and full throttle is barely enough to turn wheels with 0 friction. Between .9 - 1.0 v) Looking for anything obvious such as smells, excessive heat, discoloration, etc. on the motor/wires/leads doesn't reveal anything. All solder connections appear to be solid.
My next step was to rig a power pack to the motor directly using/not using the leads hanging off of it.
I spoke with a horizon rep before I got farther than taking a voltage sample of battery. He said that it sounded like an ecs issue and to send it in. Before I took that step I thought I'd do a bit more digging.
Should I continue to dig (not really knowing but just using educated guesswork?) or listen to the support rep and just send it in? Any and all advice, tips, questions, answers, etc. appreciated.
Thanks,
Grok

Same problem here. The Losi tech said it sounded like the motor and they are sending me another one.

Stock motors are junk, most likley the brushes are shot. Ask your LHS to take a look at it. Most things are simple fixes and don't require you to contact the manufacturer.
