It's unlikely that you will have better luck with the Ammo. The permax is a higher quality motor. Your quark, battery, or connectors are likely to blame. First, re-solder all connections. Make shure you have high quality connectors between battery and esc. The 1/10 sidewinder is a good idea, but I don't know where I would put one in a Vendetta chassis.

I run the Tekin RS with the Novak 380 sensored motor and it's the bomb in my detta.

Great report! Which setup would you recommend as the most reliable?

After frying my mongoose I switched to my RS as a back up, I felt a noticeable difference using my RS tuning wise and the speed control was cold to touch, seriously the thing was like it was turned off. I guess being able to go in and fine tune profile settings made for a much smoother feeling, better braking combo.

A lot of the fast guys over in the UK have been running the RS with the goose motors for a while now with great results. That'll definately be my next upgrade for sure. I've been a die hard Novak fan ever since the advent of ESCs, but the new Tekin stuff is great. LVCs on almost every model and super small footprints to boot.

I did it with one of my Dettas and it worked surprisingly well, better than I thought.

Never use a temp gun, but the gearing I run is either stock to 2up, 2down pinion. The Tekin RS esc is very expensive and I would never buy one specifically for a mini car,but with such great results, I highly recommend them for serious racers.

Why wouldn't you think it would work well? The RS is a higher rated sensored ESC with the same size footprint as the Goose and is a lot more reliable.

Guess I worded that wrong. It was more of one of those cross your fingers moment as I don't make it a practice of mixing BL components. No biggie.
