Default alum hinge pin mounts

Yes they are, Hobby Stop West in Toledo Ohio has them. They are duplicates of the original plastic mounts, however the hinge pin hole goes all the way thru. You will need longer pins with "e" clips on the ends to go thru both mounts. I just use aluminium on the rear and drill front plastic thru and install longer pins and e clips, lots of miles and no breakdowns.

The Tailwhip is the same car, but uses narrow hingepin mounts and a spacer inside the wheels to give it the same overall width. It also has different rear body mounts and of course drift tires. Everything else is the same. If buying Sportwerks upgrades, the CVDs will not fit without going to the Recoil hinge mounts and removing the spacer. Carisma sells "wide" and "narrow" CVDs. I would say if you get a good deal on it then you would save money going with it, but if the price is similar then the GT14 would be the way to go.

It's $129, but comes with an AM radio. I plan to buy the Flysky GT2 anyway. That car does sound like one that won't be ideal for me. Thanks again, back to the Detta TC and Carisma GT14 I guess. Both come with 2.4, but the Duratrax does have better parts availability, but I love the bodies on the Carisma.

I scoured the hobby shop for some material that was the same diameter
it was a roll cage from another car and the wire was the right dia. just cut it to length and cut a small groove with dremmel and snapped an e-clip on.

I have a stock Sportworks Recoil with rubber tires. I need more runtime. The track surface is medium grip (asphalt, indoor tile etc). What Lipo is everyone running in these cars that will not impact the reliability of the stock motor?

Try something 1600-1800mah. Just about any brand in that size will fit with no problems. I run Zippy and Turnigy 2200's that fit easily, but that kind of runtime will probably shorten the life of your motor by alot.

Ken, if you have more than 2 or 3 runs on the stock motor, you are already way ahead of the curve! If you want to keep it brushed and similar perforance to stock, go with the Carismaj upgrade motor for the M14. It's a 380 size motor and far more suitable for the Recoil than the one that came with it. Only draw back is you have to make some easy mods to accomodate the larger motor. The chassis hole under the motor has to be lenghtend and you have to go with pinions for a 2.3mm shaft. The motor will last MUCH longer and run cooler. As far as LiPo goes, I run from 1500 to 1800 2 cell Flightpower.

CurveTracer,
Don't know if you saw that a new track is open in Bradley. I loaned him all of my jumps, barriers and scoring system to get going. He bought new carpet from crc and the track is 50' X 36'. At least one of the locals has a Recoil, and several of my old regulars still have them. Will be racing this comming weekend. Come on down and check it out! He will be running on & off road and oval. 1/12 and smaller.

So I have read this thread to death and cannot find a confirmation. I must have missed it.

I have a recoil pro and I need a servo. What fits well? I'd like a MG servo but the one I have (hitech hs-82mg) wont work as the screw is too short to use with the stock servo saver. I have read the xray m18 saver is the one to get.

What is the preferred setup? With the xray m18 saver fit the servo I have? Where can I go to find out?

Also, what setup needs to be done out of the box? Replace the diff balls? Etc...
