This radio is making me miss my expo! I have the dual rate setup where it barely makes the tighter turns as well. I went 1 step harder in tires all around witch seemed help dull the car down a bit. (K30 slick in front, K20 radial in rear).

Any suggestions for setup on this track with 98MM Box Stock?

I never got comfortable with the last circuit but I am loving this months track.......getting the arc from the main straight into the short straight and into turn 2 is awesome when you get it right. I am not going to be much help on set-up since I run PN tires. I have tried the Kyoshos but I just can't make them work, I feel like I can never get enough steering. Not having expo is a bummer but I am still running max rates for steering as I can use the extra throw to scrub the fronts and get a but more off throttle steering as that seems to work for me. I have found going softer in the rear takes away a bit of the edge, I was experimenting last night and found I had more confidence in the car with a softer T-Plate.

There have been times where I throw my hands in the air and just rebuild the car with the softest set up and work up from there......these little cars can be frustrating at times.

Keep at it and you will get it up to speed.

Cheers,
Jim

Thanks for all the input!

Scionara05 I will get some of the 40's on order. I like the idea of a harder tire and turning up my rates like LJH and just let the tires scrub at speed then enjoy the sharper steering on slower corners.
Traveler2 I put the gyro on when I was running the car in the garage on a slick floor. For Mini 96 track it is not needed so I just have it turned all the way down. This effectively turns it off right? I have run with it unplugged and it seems to have the same results as turned all the way down.
LJH I do have some PN tires, but they are all Soft and Super Soft. They seem too sticky for my style on this track. I will probably get some Mediums to see how they do. I did go to my softest suspension setup last night and had the best results. Finally squeaked out a 4.5 followed by several 6's and a couple 7's, lol. I think you are safe for now;)

Yes, I use mediums 99% of the time in the front and Softs 85% of the time in the rear, sometimes I will go Super Soft.

I recently bought an MR03 Evo with a 5600kv motor to compete in the Mini96 series. I'm wanting to upgrade the rear pod. I want to keep it MM and have the possibility of going to 94mm from 98mm. Which pod(s) are suggested?
Thanks.

Scott

Depends on what style motor you want to use, drilled with mounting holes or not. If you are keeping the Kyosho 5600, your options for 94 and 98 with same pod are limited. I really like the quality of the Kyosho MJ mounts, and I have the LM version which does 98 and 102mm. The MM2 version does 94 and 98 mm and it works with the stock disk damper that comes with the EVO, but it may not fit under some 98mm bodies. At the moment, that might be your only option. Check out the manual for it HERE and the attached.

The new Nexx motor pod works with the square motor. They have 2 different versions one for the round and one for the square motor. I have the one for the square (Kyosho) motor and it works great. You can use any dampener you want, but will need the PN dampener post.

I'm waiting for my LHS to get me a "square" one, but do they do 94mm? From what I've read, only 98-102mm.

They do only adjust from 98-102MM. Thanks looked over that part. I only run 98 to 102mm at this time, so didn't even think about that aspect.

Where did you get yours? My LHS owner seems to be the only one that hasn't gotten his shipment.

mbykerman 05-10-2020 03:21 AM

Actually ordered mine directly from Nexx. Shipped out from Vietnam on Friday and was at my house on Monday morning.

mbykerman 05-10-2020 03:23 AM

I believe that Park lane hobbies and Brooklyn hobbies have them in stock though from what I have seen on Facebook.

Traveler2 05-10-2020 03:30 AM

Parklane shipping is $10, which I think is too high. Did yours come with the new aluminum damper post, or the goofy platic ones?

Traveler2 05-10-2020 03:33 AM

Scott, here is my newest build. It’s going to be a brushless sister to my F-430GT PN70T car I run in stock M96WC. Keeping the stock MM2 pod and DDS for now but swapped the 5600 for a 4100 motor.

came with the plastic ones, but had a PN one I used. The plastic one can be used, if you drill out the hole on your discs and use the stock springs from kyosho dampener.
