My servo arrived, I got the one recommended at the beginning of this thread, I think it's a M90. WOW! The steering is great, the servo only cost me $5, I have no idea why Dromida didnt use this or similar servo to start with. Steering is strong and precise. I paired the reciever to my Futaba 4px controller. With the brushless motor and 2s lipo this thing has some serious torque for its size. I couldn't stop driving this car the other day, super fun with the correct electronics and mechanical parts.

i made an account just to share pics of a couple of my trucks.

MrOflam 12-11-2018 09:02 AM

And I keep getting told I need at least 2 posts before posting URLs. Which Im not trying to do, but I guess pics are URLs?

MrOflam 12-11-2018 09:05 AM

This is painful. Still cant post pics :(

MrOflam 12-11-2018 09:13 AM

Oh well, for now, the description of the images I would like to share, I guess lol

One, my race truck. All the aluminum parts I could find, cause I hate breaking things, and once you go aluminum, its all going to be aluminum lmo lol

Second, my experimental truck. I have been following this thread for a while, so it has certain things in it mentioned in here. The duratrax metal ball diffs (looking for metal bevel gear option), the RC18 stub axles, and I found that dogbones from the remo smax fit well, sith a very small amount of grinding. It also has a motor mount from a wltoys something, and a 3d printed servo mount I made, cause the dromida options suck. This truck will probably be disassembled, cause I seem to have issues finding a pinion gear that meshes well with the dromida spur.

At some point when I can upload pics, I will share them lol

Welcome MrOflam,
Yeah, I think it takes a few posts to start to get more privileges on these forums. Please don't give up on the photos, post them when you can, we'd love to see your Dromida vehicles.
Pinion gears should be very easy to find, here is a URL to one of many I quickly found (not sure what size/number of teeth your looking for).

Maybe there is something else going on though if your having trouble setting the gear mesh?

Post some photos of your gear mesh that your having trouble with once you can, it will be easier to identify what is going on w/ a photo.

Thanks for the pinion link. Those wont help me though. This experimental truck has the wltoys motor mount, so I can put a 540 motor in it. So I need a pinion for a 3.175 (or whatever) shaft.

What pinion size do you need it's a .6 mod pinion but what tooth number do you need?

MrOflam 12-12-2018 09:39 AM

Ok, update on the pinion. I swapped pinions on my vaterra the other day, and Just looked at the gear mesh on the pinion that was in that (I honestly hadnt thought much about this experiment car until yesterday when tried to share pics of it) it looks pretty good, I think its going to work. And its 28t, thing should scream. And then I try some of my other vatera gears, and they just dont mesh, I dont get it. But we'll see how this 28 goes sometime today.

Still seem like I cant post pics. And theres a pretty strict post limit per 24 hours thing. You guys must have combated some major spam or something.

Initial quick short runs in my office seemed good with the 28t pinion (but noisy). But it was short lived, chewed up the plastic spur like it was nothing. So I put in the metal spur, still very noisy, I guess this gear doesnt mesh well either. Think Im going to give up on this big motor tiny car thing. Ill still post pics when Im allowed to though.

28t .6 mod pinion https://www.ebay.com/itm/Hot-Racing-...Mpa:rk:35:pf:0 it's 5mm bore but has a adapter for 3.175mm (1/8") shaft.

Race truck. Started life as a desert buggy, converted it to a SCT, then realized my local carpet tracks 18th truck class had no definition as to a "truck" at all, so converted it for a final time to a truggy like thing lol

Race truck, have had temp issues for years on this thing.

you have to make sure that whatever spur your running the pinion is the same "pitch". If they are not then you will have trouble like chewed up teeth on your gear(s) that you described.

I am curious about a 540 sized motor in your little Dromida!! -dude!! Does it spin out when you full throttle it? That is a lot of power.
