I think 11.1 is overkill in my Rusty and I think I'll get the 8000 7.4v 2s2p MaxAmps pack.

If the Rusty easily pulls 65mph with the 11.1v pack how much of a drop off will I see with the 7.4v pack?

Top speed would most likely be around 40-45 MPH whichis still fast enough. LOL

Could I put a lower torque motor in that gets more rpm per volt (a mamba motor?)? The Velineon motor probably has too much torque anyway.

Yes you can run a mamba motor with the traxxas speed control. The mamba 6800 motor should be a good combo with the 8000 7.4 battery. However it will still have loads of torque.
