Hey guys for the LM class how much of the pack are you using during the run? I have heard some say the pack was going soft at the end of the main which I assume means the pack was almost used up. Pack just charged and took 1940 mah after the main run. So I didn't even use half the pack, is that normal or should I be gearing up, or turning up the timing some more. The part I don't get is I assume I will lose some punch, but haven't seen this to be true, brushless is a weird deal.

One last piece, the motor runs cool enough that I don't need a fan, which not sure if that is good or bad.

Chris

Half a pack is pretty normal for 8 min. As far as gearing, everyone is running between 50 and 55 mm rollout. Stock spur and between 16 to 22 teeth on new tires (67 mm diameter). I think most are running around 30* timing, some a little more, some a little less.

Chris,

Your car is as fast as mine - I've no where near the fastest car, not by a long shot.

Whatever advantage I may have is in the chassis setup. I take great care in maintaining the car and making sure everything, including the rear pod is free, screws are tight, nothing is out of balance, wiring is not in the way...etc.

After that's taken care of, practice, practice, practice - you can't buy that in a hobby shop.

Anyone showing up tonight?

I know practice, practice, etc, which I don't have enough time to do right now, busy with work and other commitments. What I did notice was to the other three I would give up 10 to 15 feet on the sweeper/straight, but pull away a touch in the corners, but not enough to make up the difference. It did make letting guys past difficult because I would be right back on them until we hit the straight. So maybe I do have enough punch, it is just not what I am used to with set ups of days gone by

I am pretty happy with the car, minus the slight traction roll on the right handers, but I really have no clue with these motors. Am hoping to get out again soon, and will probably play with gears, timing etc. Also will try to dial out the traction roll. I will admit I do miss the mod days where motor/ gearing isn't an issue because you always have more speed than you can use. I never raced a stock pan car class on a big track, the only time I ran stock pan car was on Cudahy News and Hobby's track in the basement which was crazy small and stock 6 cell was really too fast.
