Default IMPORTANT NEWS ITEMS

At our monthly meeting this past Saturday the board made a few important changes.

First, our indoor OFFROAD program on Saturdays will now start at 5 PM. We made this change to get the ending time a bit earlier for everyone.

Secondly, practice on Wednesdays is now free to all those with a membership. Non-members still cost $5.

Thanks to those on the board for their continued dedication to making our club one of the best in the state.

Default January's Board Meeting

At MARCCA's January board meeting the following were discussed:

- The club's financial report was given and accepted.
- The dates for the Monroe/MARCCA challenge were given. 1-29 in Madison, and 2-5 in Monroe. Proposed start time was 10 a.m. Class rules were still in negotiation due to the separate clubs' structures.
- Capital City Carpet Challenge was scheduled for 2-19-11. Start time would be 10am.
- Election results were accepted. The club welcomes new board members Chris Lewis and Walt Zweifel.
- The introduction of a third class was proposed and accepted with the possibility of modifying in the future. The new class now expands both stadium truck and SCT to 3 skill levels. Sportsman is designated for new drivers who have no or minimal experience racing. Open is now the class "in between". Super is the top tier class designated for drivers with exceptional skill and experience.
- Track repair day is scheduled for 1-15 @ 9am. All members are encouraged to attend and bring staple guns to help recarpet jumps and make track repairs.
- The length of the qualifying heats and mains was also discussed. The board decided to accept Walt's idea of making all qual. heats 6 min. for all classes. Mains would be altered to the following. Sportsman mains are 6 min, Open mains are 7 min and Super mains are 8 min. This proposal was to be tried that night and comments from members are strongly encouraged concerning the new class structure and length.
- Board adjourned.

I made a few small edits to Chad's post.

The first of the Marcca - Monroe race is at Marcca on 1-29.

The sportsmen mains are 6 minutes.

Thank you Chad for posting this in Matt's absence.

Mainly talking about outdoor setup and dates for workdays. Also need to find storage for our indoor stuff.

Default Outdoor Sportsman Class

I will not be able to make the monthly meeting this week. I would however like the board to consider a Sportsman class for the outdoor season. Basically people can run anything in it, buggy, truggy, short course, electric, Nitro. It will keep the less skilled out of the way of better drivers and give us in the class some more appropriate competition, while we get track time.

it would have to be divided between buggy/truggy and SCT/1/10

Why? Last year I raced a couple of times at a track up north and they have a class like this with mixed buggies and truggies in it and it worked well. They did let SCT 4x4 in on occasion, but suggested mixing SCTs with the 1/8 scale was not a good idea as the 1/10 scale cars would get pushed around by the bigger truggies and buggies. I can see that experienced guys would not like this, but for the beginners (like me) I don't think it makes much difference.

that's what I was trying to say...

keep the larger 1/8 bug/trug together, and the smaller lighter ones separate.

There's always the possibility of letting them run together, but still having points awarded to different classes (ie. buggy and ebuggy)
I a of the opinion that to become a better driver, it helps to just follow a faster guy and learn from them.

The indoor season was fantastic this year. A huge thank you to all that made the season a memorable one. Without everyone pitching in and helping we could not put on such a great program. Lookiing forward to seeing you all at the outdoor track in the near future.

Default meeting and work day

Since not many people showed last Sunday the board meeting will be held this Sunday the 14th at 9 am.

We also will have a work day on August 20th to prepare the track for our night race and the extended heats race at the end of the month.
