The original capacitor is a computer grade component with low ESR. Novak does not recommend garden variety substitues for their products

I have not encountered any problems using ordinary capacitors on my esc's. I'm currently using three capacitors on my GTB for 1. added punch for stock racing 2. It's supposed to help keep the ESC cooler, 3. It's a free and useful ballast for balancing the battery weight and meeting weight limit and 4. Because I'm too cheap to go and buy the original part that costs 6x the price of 2 ordinary caps

Use the largest capacitance you can find and be sure to install that battery side schottky diode on you GTX. That is your first line of defense against damage from incorrect battery connection. If you have already connected you battery in reverse, better replace the diode ASAP; it may already be damaged.

kahit ano motor gamitin mo, use the external cap and shotky bottom line is, its better to be safe than sorry.. happy racing!

not unless.. Burn Baby Burn!!! ang hilig mo. wachasay tantalus and curious?

voodooph, thanks for the info about cap. of novak and some generic cap.

rough512, I think I'll just go with ordinary cap. parang ikaw, kasi cheap rin ako eh... hehe... I will only run naman stock motor with it so maybe wala naman mangyayaring pangit?

And what do you mean by look for the largest capacitance? as in ung voltage nya? tama ba?

and how will you know kung damage na yung schottky diode? so far, ung ginagamit ko ung kit ko, di ko pa naman na rereverse polarity ung batt and esc...

oh okay... I'm going to get me an ordinary cap later... diba po may voltage ewan po ung cap.? how will I know kung ilan cap. ung dati kong cap.?

Capacitance=uF (microfarads). Tingin ka kung may 10volts tapos yung pinakamataas ang uF. Pag wala, iparallel mo na lang yung dalawa o tatlo. It's safe to use higher capacitance the original part.

Medyo masalimuot. Punta ka na lang sa JP sa saturday, dala ka ng tester/multimeter/


or

Subukan mong ikabit pabaliktad yung esc mo. Kung umusok yung diode, gumagana pa yan DATI (pero ngayon hindi na) . Pag umusok yung ESC, dati nang sira yung diode. . Biro lang pre. hehehe

jay: thanks! i will start at the 6.4-6.5 range if we end up running stock this weekend. what brushes? good ol 767s?

rough: naghahanda lang kung sakaling stock ang itatakbo this sat since wala pang official announcement ng race classes from sir pitshop ... im hoping though na may mod kasi sayang naman bago kong speedo kung stock lang ikakabit ko ... hehehe pero anything goes ako of cors. will join whatever class we run. anyway, abang nalang tayo ng announcement, im sure lalabas na yun soon.

robo: correct yun ideal gearing ni jay... alam mo naman motto ni jay when it comes to motors...
re brushes... yup, good ol 767's are the only way to go... since 4499's and f-brushes are out of stock...

rough: sino naman may sabi sau na pang mabuchi class ang skill mo???

btw sir, where do you buy your CAPACITORS? I just been to some electronic shops and unfortunately, wala raw silang capacitor na binibenta...
