Concours winner was a tie between the monocolor blue paint scheme of Norman and the monocolor pink car of Joel. Walang aangal! :lol:

After a grueling 3 x 15minute races, the veterans make a comeback after being trounced in the last event by the young rookies.

A-main racers
race report: ( from Race official Hector Coronel)
The qualifying session was a hotly contested one and Emer Agero
was able to come out on top with a hard charged to the line during
his last lap and a tenths of a second ahead of defending champion Raffy Abello.
The a-main started-off with an early retirement from Raffy with a diff
problem but went on strong in the 2nd and 3rd a-main that secured him
the 2012 nationals title. the battle for the title was a real toss up between
Emer, who won the 1st a-main, and Raffy. it was an exciting match up
between the two until the last final lap and Raffy was able to squeeze out more from his Durango kit
against the losi kit of emer. it was also a surprising 3rd to Ish Montilla who didn't expect a podium finish.
The b-mains was handly won by late comer Vin Diaz with a back to back win in the 2nd and 3rd b-main finals.

The Qualis:
Oldskul took the top with an early blistering run of 19.58 on the first 5 mins of the qualifying session. Second was Cocojam with a run of 19.83 on the second lap of a last minute run before the end of the 30 min qualis. Dennis came in third with a good run of 19.87. Race favorite Norman was struggling to improve his pace but only managed to come up with a mid-20 sec qualifying time.

1st Heat:
Oldsku and Badboy were neck to neck from start to finish while Cocojam, dropping from 2nd to 6th at the early stage of the race, manage to salvage 3rd after a consistent and accident free run.

2nd Heat:
Badboy avenged his loss to Oldskul in the first heat with a consistent run and a blistering pace of 18.85 which was the fastest lap recorded for the day. Despite some mistakes that pushed him to take a conservative driving stance, Oldskul still finished second. Newbie Dennis D. put up the pace this time and ended up with good 3rd finish despite having a nearly chipped-off front foam tire.

3rd Heat:
Oldskul and Badboy were at each others throats again from start to finish. Vets Cocojam and Norman were nowhere in sight as they were bogged down by handling problems and accidents. The tag team of Dennis and Gabe M. took advantage of this and finished 3rd and 4th, respectively.

It's amazing to see how close we all are now in qualifying despite the variety in chassis and driver experience. Our rules are working.

And we now have a new drivers championship points leader. The season is still long, every position is up for grabs.

Now in its third year, the Alabama Manufacturers Shootout has grown in popularity each year and this year was no different. With the reigning 1:8 World Champion and ROAR 1:8 National Champions all in attendance, the competition was as high as it's ever been.

With a sweep of the 2011 event, Team Associated's Ryan Maifield was the favorite going in to the event and even with the elevated competition still looked to dominate. With his LRP-powered and JConcepts-equipped Factory Team RC8.2 buggy and Factory Team RC8T truggy, Maifield picked up where he left off in 2011 and set the fastest times in qualifying to secure the top qualifying positions in both Expert Buggy and Expert Truggy for the 2012 event.

At the start of the 45-minute Expert Truggy main event, Maifield checked out from the field and built a 15+ second lead at one point, when an engine cut-out exiting the pits causing Maifield to re-fire and rejoin in third, battling with Adam Drake, 15 seconds down from the leader. With unmatched determination, Maifield put his head down and charged back to the front of the pack, running down the leader, Jared Tebo, with just a few laps remaining. The two battled back and forth and entered the last lap just tenths of a second apart. A smooth and confident final lap from Maifield sealed the win and back-to-back Expert Truggy AMS titles.

Still dialed in from his victory in Expert Truggy, Maifield came out strong in the Expert Buggy class with his Factory Team RC8.2 and pulled for an early lead. As he entered lapped traffic, tangles cost him the lead, allowing Jared Tebo to pull out at one point to a 10-second lead. Again, Maifield put his head down to find the flow he had in the Truggy main and reeled in Tebo, who also had troubles with lapped traffic. The two drivers battled it out in the middle of the race, but Maifield's pace was just too much. As the laps expired with the time counting down, Maifield found himself coming up to lap Tebo. By the end of the event, Maifield finished with 107 laps, Tebo with 105, and third place Cody King at 103 laps. This is the third year in a row that Maifield has taken home the Expert Buggy title at the AMS and it's obvious he was comfortable with his entire package on the challenging indoor Alabama surface.

Thank you racers for making it a memorable event. 17 F1 rc cars running simultaneously in JP Raceway is a record. Even more than what we had during the peak of F1 in 2008.

But when all said and done, it really goes down mostly to driving skill. Patience in navigating thru traffic. No single chassis had a glaring advantage. Race winner Allan Colico did not set any of the fastest lap time in the triple mains. Careful driving and avoiding accidents was key to victory.

It was a tight fought 3 x 15 minute finals. And after 45 minutes of racing, congratulations to the podium finishers. With 17 cars it was well deserved.

It was a historic day for Philippine r/c with 25 Formula One cars on the grid for a 15 minute race. A big thank you to Dan, Miles, Rodil, Allan F. and others who have recruited friends to the F1 races.

A big welcome to new faces Tim, Ron, Vin, Mark, Ike, Dan, Bryan, Jojo, Jeff, Dindo, Rey and Gerome for joining the event. Apologies if I misspelled your name, send me a PM and I will correct.

The day started slowly with only a handful of racers with only 1 hour to go till qualifying. But then it was a flood of racers entering JP Raceway and suddenly the final count was 25 racers.

The first race was a royal rumble. The grid was already 1/3 the length of JP Raceway.
