After multiple attempts at re-starting, Raffy Abello finally falls off the podium allowing Clemen Pancho to claim victory after a harrowing 45 minute finals. Greg Leonardo driving his Xray 808 2011 buggy takes 2nd overall with a consistent run and Derrick Chiongbian takes 3rd overall. In the truggy finals, Clemen Pancho maintains his mastery of the race by scoring the easy win leading by over a lap over his closest competitor. The Philippine Master 2012 took place at Junkyard Racetrack on March 3 and 4 , 2012. The two days event had morethan 80 entries for both Nitro Truggy and Buggy. Drivers came from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao and they were greeted with a very hot and sunny racing day. For the Buggy and Truggy, There were 3 rounds of qualifying with 10 minutes each and 1 hour for the A-Main , 45 minutes for the B-Main and 30 minutes for the C and D Main. For the past weeks, the weather was soooo hot and made the track so dry n dusty but during the race, with the help of the water sprinkler, the track was in perfect conditions with a good tractions and dust were eliminated from the start of the qualifying till the end of the finals. Among the Top drivers who were present during the Masters were Raffy Abello driving his Associated/O.S engine, Jordan Go with his Serpent/ Novarossi, Clemen Pancho with his Serpent/Novarossi, Werks engine driver Nani Tagle with his Associated kit and many others.
At exactly 9:30a.m, qualifying started for the buggy. On the first round of the qualifying, Hongnor X3 Sabre driver Rico Mendoza with his Technopower engine TQd with 17 laps , 10 mins and 5 seconds. With this number, everybody was pushing hard to beat 17 laps with a faster pace so on the second round of qualifying, Serpent driver clemen pancho with his Novarossi engine TQd the second round with 17 laps but with 10 mins and 7 seconds. Drivers were surprised when another Hongnor X3 Sabre driven by Edward sio with his Novarossi Bonito took the overall TQ on the third and final round qualifying with 17 laps, 10 minutes and 2 seconds. Both Hongnor X3 Sabre driver Rico and Edward were getting a very consistent 17 laps on every round of qualifying. The final main went on with Edward sio /X3 Sabre/ Nova bonito on pole position followed by Clemen Pancho/Serpent/Nova Bonito and Third Rico Mendoza/X3Sabre/Technopower. Pole driver edward was able to get away from the pack early on and maintained a 20 -25 seconds lead over the second car clemen plancho who suffered an early flameout . Edward's 25 seconds lead was maintained for 45 mins untill a late flamout caused him to drop to second place and that was the end of it. First clemen pancho, second edward sio , Third rico mendoza . This event was the first big race for the Team Hongnor X3 Sabre. This is what X3 drivers had to say, " the car was fast, planted and hooked and made driving easier." For B- main, Gerald chua driving his mbx6 with Nova plus4, took the podium with a very consistent driving from start till the end of the 45 mins race, but decided not to bump up. For the truggy event, another successfull race for the Team serpent led by Edward sio /serpent/nova bonito , who TQd with 17 laps , 10 mins and 5 seconds and finished 2nd place overall with Clemen pancho /serpent/nova bonito on First place and denis lucindo/serpent/nova bonito on third place. Champion: Capt. Rainiel Viola 1st Runer-Up: Julius Mark Fabicon 2nd Runner-Up: Carlos Dominguez The Nitro Class was cancelled due to technical problems with the AMB Transponder of Sonic.
